Mauritius Summer Family Twin Centre
Mauritius Summer Family Twin Centre
On the 10th of August 20223, we set off on our summer holiday to Mauritius, we flew from Manchester with Emirates via Dubai and managed to grab ourselves a reduced paid-for upgrade to business class on the second sector between Dubai and Mauritius as a “surprise” for our two girls!
The holiday was booked to celebrate the 20th wedding anniversary of my husband and we also went with our two daughters aged 12 and 16.
On arrival in Mauritius, we had a fabulous “warm welcome” at the Victoria Beachcomber Hotel and Spa Resort, on the North West coast of the island. The weather tends to be better in the UK during the Summer months on the west coast of Mauritius, we had chosen to book a two-bedroom family room, our room was clean and spacious and had views of the sea and the Victoria Beachcomber resort is located to make the most of the fabulous Mauritius sunsets too!
Victoria Beachcomber Resort also has a smaller “adult only” hotel within the overall complex Victoria for 2.
We booked on an all-inclusive basis and the food was of an excellent standard, there was a main buffet restaurant Le Superbe, and then on arriving on our first day we were able to make some reservations for the a la carte restaurants of L’Horizon a beach seafood restaurant, La Casa an Italian restaurant and my husband and I booked a meal in the adult only Morris Beef steak restaurant too, we were able to book to go back to La Casa during our one week stay at Victoria Beachcomber as they arranged a fabulous private dining experience on the beach for us for our 20th wedding anniversary celebration.
We had some fabulous beach and pool time with our family whilst at Victoria Beachcomber, we took a snorkelling trip, they do morning and afternoon snorkelling sessions which you can pre-book, one day prior from the water sports shack on the beach, we also took a glass bottom boat trip, free and our girls went out on paddle boards, my husband also water-skied and we went out on pedalo‘s too.
The hotel has varied evening entertainment with dancers, discos, singers etc. too, usually operating in the main lobby bar, outside the bar in the open air, or on the beachfront weather permitting.
Whilst we were at Victoria, we took a trip around the north of the island with a private driver Nitesh who had been recommended to us by a work colleague who had stayed the weeks before us. During our day trip, we went into the capital Port Louis, we saw the fabulous market with fresh produce, spices and wear, and we went up to Citadel Fort Adelaide for amazing 360 views across the island capital. We spent an hour or so at the Caudan Waterfront for a spot of shopping and lunch, then went on to the Botanical gardens, before heading to Grand Baie and the Red Church, it was a lovely day out, at a reasonable price, and with our very knowledgeable local driver Nitesh.
After seven nights at Victoria Beachcomber Resort and Spa, we moved to our second twin centre for a three-night stay to our honeymoon hotel of 20 years previous which was 5* Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok, in Trou D’eau Douce on the East coast of Mauritius, this was around a one hour transfer from our Victoria Beachcomber hotel. We stayed in the Coral Deluxe Family Room ocean view, these were two interconnecting rooms, Le Touessrok does not offer an all-inclusive basis, so we opted to go for a full board basis, as it can be quite pricey in the resort for food and drinks and this meant we had our food included.
Shangri-La Le Touessrok is a fabulous 5* hotel, popular with couples, families and groups, it offers a children’s club with activities, our 12-year-old received a kids club welcome pack in the hotel room and attended one of the Henna painting sessions during our short stay at the hotel.
The food in the restaurants at Le Touessrok was excellent, during our three nights, were able to dine at:- Le Bazar Buffet Restaurant, Kushi Japanese Restaurant, Safran Indian Restaurant, Republik Beach Bar and Grill for lunch, where our girls also went back for dinner on the evening we went to Safran and Illot Mangenie Beach restaurant on Mangenie Island – the private island of Le Touessrok a short boat ride away.
Despite being full board the hotel includes various water sports in their rates such as:- paddle boards, and water-skiing, and we had a private snorkelling trip too, they also offer free kayaking, glass bottom boat trips, windsurfing and sailing on a Hobie cat, with other chargeable motorised water sports available too.
Le Touessrok has a wonderful private island Illot Mangenie, this is my favourite feature, this unique destination offers a day of perfect tranquillity, on a remarkable island paradise, complimentary boat shuttles depart every 20 minutes from the resort jetty throughout the day, a wonderful day away from the resort, with walks, food, drinks and available spa treatments on Illot Mangenie too!
My husband and I also took a free ferry across to Ile Aux Cerfs too, where the infamous Ile Aux Cerfs golf club is. We also stumbled across a private beach on Ile Aux Cerfs for the Aanhita Resort and Four Seasons guests, however as this was a quiet time of year we were invited to enjoy the facilities at the private beach via a little shuttle bus collection from the golf course jetty, the beach was in a stunning location, with a beach bar and swing seats open air “Instagrammable” outdoor dining areas an a beach where the water shelved in gently, this was a real hidden gem and a fabulous find for my husband and I for a few hours whilst we left the girls on the beach at Le Touessrok.
We loved our time at Le Touessrok where we could reminisce with our girls about our honeymoon stay too.
We had the most fabulous 10 nights on this twin-centre holiday in Mauritius, this had been my third visit to Mauritius, a second for my husband and the first for our girls, we all agreed that if money was not an issue we would gladly return to Mauritius and the warm hospitality of its people year after year.
After our ten nights in Mauritius, we headed off to Dubai for the last four nights of our holiday!
