Leisure Activities

Palio di Siena

The most famous bareback horserace in history. Twice a year, ten jockeys and horses complete three laps around the piazza and, very often, the horses finish the race without their riders!

Amalfi Coast

Experience one of the world's most breath taking drives along the renowned Amalfi Coast where a thin ribbon of road zig zags up and down the steep coastal hillside offering mesmerising views.

A World of Experiences

There's a abundance of memorable activities to choose from: horse riding in the hills of Sardinia, watch a sea of pink flamingos feed in the surrounding marshes just outside of Cagliari, ride in a gondola in Venice, see The Vatican and Trevi Fountain in Rome, visit Pompeii and Herculaneum on the Southern Coast, take a trip to Etna or go back in time to Cefula for an unspoilt day out at the beach.

More About Italy & Islands

Italy offers up a feast of contrasts from the snow-capped mountains of the Dolomites to the majestic coastline of the Amalfi Coast where visitors get the chance to experience the Italian traditions of an era gone by. Choosing to immerse yourself in one of Italy’s famous islands means you will be able to indulge in the luxury sandy beaches and enchanting hotels situated in Sardinia, Sicily or Ischia. Explore the captivating cities of Italy and all they have to offer; Venetian canals, beautifully sculpted fountains in Rome and prestigious shopping locations in Milan make up a cultured yet sophisticated backdrop to take in wonderful sun-kissed buildings. With options to suit every occasion and budget, travellers looking for a range of holiday experiences like visiting the streets of Pompeii, viewing the beautiful Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna or looking at the period Renaissance art pieces, Italy has it all. If you want to extend your adventures to the outdoors, you can throw yourself into the hands of nature amongst seductive turquoise grottoes and glacial Italian lakes. Tuscany‘s landscape is punctuated with villas, castles, farmhouses, olive groves and, of course, vast vineyards. There's also the golden sands at the beautiful coastal town of Viareggio where soft sands and shallow waters plus freshly caught seafood make this a firm favourite with locals and holidaymakers alike. The appetising seasonal produce and fresh ingredients make the home-style Italian dishes shine - reflecting the wonderful atmosphere of a beautiful country. Designer Travel can help you make your luxury trip to Italy extra special. If you want to focus on a culinary adventure, we can find you the best resort and places to stay for that. Maybe you'd like a gourmet cookery course - no problem, just get in touch! Of course, there are fabulous wines as well so we can source wine tours and tastings that will ensure you get to experience the rich diversity of wines on offer. Walking, hiking and trekking tours are a great choice as well and we have Travel Experts who have visited Italy and know the best routes, hotels and places to explore. Bespoke and tailor-made holidays are not a problem but we're also very happy to assist with any hotel or accommodation enquiry you have and we pride ourselves on making each and every customer happy.
