We launched in January 2008 with a clear goal: to build a UK-wide homeworking travel business where customers are our top priority. We started by recruiting passionate travel experts who shared our vision: “to build a profitable travel business that delights customers and values its people.” Today, as an award-winning independent travel company, we offer a wide range of quality products.
As part of the Hays Independence Group, we work with hundreds of tour operators, matching the best products to our customers' needs. Our team, based in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, collaborates closely to provide expert travel recommendations, supporting our 100+ Business Associates through regular updates, training, and communication.

Our Approach
Our business thrives on creativity, energy, and passion. When Karen and Amanda founded it in 2008, they never imagined winning the "Contribution to Luxury Travel" award in 2022 at the TTG Luxury Travel Awards in London, recognizing the best in the industry. While many of our team have deep luxury travel experience, we also seek out candidates with no formal training but a passion for luxury, sales flair, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. With a proven track record of developing top homeworkers, we’ve launched the Designer Travel Training Academy to nurture new talent.

Introducing the Designer Travel Training Academy
Whilst the majority of the Designer Travel team have joined the business within-depth knowledge of the luxury market and the travel industry, the business has always been on the look out for extra special candidates that have no formal travel training but have a passion for luxury travel, a flair for sales and business development and most importantly know the importance and value of delivering great customer service. With a proven track record for taking on new entrants to the industry who have subsequently become some of our top homeworkers, we have decided to go one step further and create our Designer Travel Training Academy package.

Who would this opportunity best suit?
We think our training academy will suit mum’s or dads returning to work after having/looking after children, travel enthusiasts with an entrepreneurial spirit, anyone looking for a new opportunity after redundancy or early retirement or well-connected individuals who have travelled extensively. Previous trainee backgrounds include Western Union, British Airways, Marks & Spencer and Pitney Bowes.

Meet Philippa
I transitioned from 14 years as a teacher into the travel industry with Designer Travel. Meet Sam
Hi, I’m Sam, a mum of three from Rochdale, and I’ve recently returned to my passion for travel by joining Designer Travel. I previously worked for Thomas Cook but took a career break before deciding to come back to the industry after having my youngest child. The flexibility of working from home really appealed to me, and although I was initially unsure about transitioning from retail to homeworking , the support, training, and resources available made it a seamless process.
I love being able to balance my career with family life, managing my own schedule and often connecting with customers in the evenings once the kids are in bed. I’d advise anyone new to this role to dedicate themselves fully in those first few weeks-it makes a huge difference. I’m so glad I made the leap back into travel and am thriving in this exciting, flexible role.

Meet Elaine
Elaine has been in the travel industry for over 36 years, spending most of her career working in High Street agencies.
After COVID, she transitioned to home working with another homeworking company and joined Designer Travel in 2024, where she has just celebrated her 12-month milestone.
She describes her experience with Designer Travel as incredible, feeling fully supported from day one. The flexibility of home working has allowed her to balance her personal and professional life while providing exceptional service to her clients. Elaine values the company’s strong reputation, technology, and supportive network, which have helped her grow her business and establish lasting client relationships.
Are we your perfect choice?
We recruit a few new associates each year, focusing on finding the right "fit"—someone who shares our passion for great customer service and exciting holidays. We offer different joining packages based on experience, with generous commissions from day one, plus the full value of supplier incentives.
Though we’re a home-based travel business, there are many chances to connect—through an annual overseas conference, supplier training, and fun, informal meetings. We also offer educational and networking opportunities at trade events.
Joining is simple: after an initial call, we'll send you details and arrange a face-to-face meeting. Once agreed, the onboarding process takes 14-28 days, with technology and support provided to get you started.
