More About Portugal

Did you know that Portugal is one of the oldest nations in Europe? The population is proud of its rich cultural heritage and with many parts of the country enjoying year-round sunshine, it’s hard for visitors not to develop a yearning to return to visit year after year. Portugal is both couple‘s and a family destination as boutique retreats are easily found plus there are plenty of activities such as wine tours and sightseeing trips, yet families will feel right at home thanks to the relatively short flight time from the UK and the fantastic selection of luxury accommodation and villa options available. The Algarve enjoys a worldwide reputation for its magnificent golf courses and, with so many courses to choose from, it is a destination that will suit all levels of golfers from beginners to professionals. It's also famous for its superb beaches, elegant resorts, and enchanting fishing villages. Lisbon is well worth a visit with the popular family-friendly oceanarium to see and the historic Mosterio dos Jeronimos. For those travellers wishing to go a little further afield, why not a holiday on the beautiful island of Madeira? Madeira has been described as “an exotic floating garden” and the island enjoys verdant landscapes and a stunning coastline. Funchal, the capital, is a bustling Portuguese city offering a cosmopolitan choice of shops and restaurants. Whilst Madeira doesn’t count sandy beaches as one of its assets, the island’s luxury hotels feature superb pools and sunbathing terraces often set amidst lush gardens. It's also a popular choice for hikers as there are miles and miles of coastal, canal, and mountain paths to explore. One of the best ways to explore Portugal is by car as you'll find your way to hidden coves and beaches plus little villages and picturesque spots that are just off the beaten track and that seem a world away from the hustle and bustle of your busy home life.
