Mauritius Magic
Mauritius Magic
If you imagine the Indian Ocean to be beautiful and blue with warm seas and gentles breezes you will love the island of Mauritius. The island has so many different hotels to choose from and each one will offer a different range of facilities and benefits. I have visited the island on a number of occasions and have my absolute favourite hotels, which I will share with you after I have told you a little bit more about the island.
The whole island is just 45 km wide and 65 km long. The airport is located on the South East coast and therefore transfers to most of the resorts will take no more than an hour.
West is always best for Mauritius the west coast is more protected which makes it ideal for swimming and water sports where as the east coast and the south can be slightly more windy and the seas can be a little rougher.
Grand Baie on the West Coast is great for shopping with lots of local shops, markets and boutiques to choose from. There are bars and restaurants and there is also a small casino which is open to visitors.
The national sport of Mauritius is football and you will find the locals playing their favourite game in many places often close to the beach....
There are water sports and activities aplenty to choose from - from diving and windsurfing to canoeing and the obligatory banana boat adventure. Take a sunset cruise along the west coast and see the dolphins who will often swim alongside you.
The best time to visit this glorious island (which is suitable all year round) with October and November benefitting from the warmest and driest temperatures with December through to March typically proving to the hottest.
The island is suitable for couples, families and is a particular favourite for weddings (where you can married at your favourite location on the beach) and honeymoons. Mauritius also attracts lots of multi generational family groups as it literally offers something for everyone.
My favourite hotels include Shangri La - Le Tousserok (where the lagoon is beautiful), The Royal Palm with its soft sandy beach and fantastic restaurants and cellar plus the Four Seasons (Anahita). If you are looking for a delightful resort for a family trip Trou Aux Biches or Le Telfair are both worthy of consideration. Give me a call and I will happily help you plan your next adventure to this amazing island.
