Mykonos: My Stay at Kouros Hotel & Suites

I’ve recently returned from a few days in Mykonos, and what a lovely experience it was to explore the island for myself and, importantly, experience a hotel that I can now confidently recommend to my clients.

I stayed at Kouros Hotel & Suites, and one of the things that really stood out to me was its location.

Perched just above Mykonos Town, the hotel is close enough that you can easily walk into the town, but far enough away to enjoy a peaceful setting when you want to escape the busier streets. For me, this is a huge selling point. You get the best of both worlds: the atmosphere and convenience of being close to Mykonos Town, without feeling like you are right in the middle of it. It literally took me 7 minutes to walk from the hotel door to the start of the town.

Kouros has that lovely Mykonos feel, with its traditional whitewashed architecture, beautiful views and relaxed atmosphere.

The setting is particularly lovely, with views across the Aegean and towards Mykonos Town. It’s the sort of place where you can sit with a drink and simply watch the world go by.

The hotel has a really nice balance between feeling stylish and special, while still being welcoming and relaxed. It would work particularly well for couples looking for somewhere a little more upmarket for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or special occasion.

And then there’s the spa...

One of the highlights of my stay was experiencing the spa.

I was lucky enough to have a treatment during my stay, and it was absolutely wonderful. After spending time exploring Mykonos, it was the perfect opportunity to slow down and relax.

Exploring Mykonos

Of course, I couldn’t visit Mykonos without getting out and exploring.

Mykonos Town is exactly the sort of place where you can happily get a little bit lost. The whitewashed buildings, little lanes, shops, restaurants and bars all seem to lead somewhere different, and there’s always something to catch your eye.

There is much more to Mykonos than the famous photographs you see, though. Getting out and exploring the island gave me a much better understanding of the different areas and what they offer, which is something I can now use when helping you decide where you would like to stay.

And that’s one of the things I love most about travelling for work. I’m not just ticking places off a list. I’m constantly building up that first-hand knowledge so that when someone comes to me and says, “We want somewhere romantic, somewhere close to the town, somewhere with a lovely pool or somewhere special for our honeymoon,” I can give them advice based on my own experience.

Would I recommend Kouros?

Yes, particularly for couples looking for a stylish hotel with a great location and lovely views.

For me, the proximity to Mykonos Town is one of its biggest advantages. Being able to walk into town means you can enjoy the restaurants, bars and atmosphere without necessarily needing to rely on taxis every evening.

Add in the views, the beautiful setting, the spa and the overall feel of the hotel, and I can definitely see why Kouros is a popular choice.

It’s also a great example of why I always encourage clients to tell me what they actually want from their holiday rather than simply choosing a hotel because it looks good in a photograph.

The right hotel can make such a difference to your experience, and location is often just as important as the hotel itself.

Mykonos, one for the list?
