Inghams Hotel Champoluc was our home for the three night trip to the Aosta Valley, a homely 3 star in the centre of the resort of Champoluc. Ski in ski out during the winter season and perfectly located to explore, hike and bike in the summer season. The hotel is a 2.5 hour transfer from Milan Malpensa. Our first full day was spent in the resort of Cervinia after a transfer of around 1 hour and 45 minutes, we embarked on a fantastic 4 hour E-Biking experience into the mountains with Top One. Although not for the faint hearted the experience was well worth the challenge when rewarded with fantastic vistas, stopping for a local mountain lunch along the way. After an exhilarating descent the rest of the day was spent exploring Cervinia. A beautiful mountain town perfect for both summer adventure and intermediate skiing in the winter. Cervinia has some great centrally located hotels, The Dragon is a small ski in ski out ideal for couples, friends and small families and located directly opposite the nursery slopes. The Grivola is a quirky contemporary 4 star approx 10 minute walk from the slopes. Day two involved a challenging 6 hour hike to Lago Blu in Champoluc taking in lots of incredible views along the way. The area has a great variety of hikes for regular walkers and experienced hikers and is perfect for intermediate and advanced skiing in the winter. Our evening was spent at the Hotel Castor, a centrally located 3 star superior, a historic family run hotel with a great vibe, wine tasting is available to book and live music takes place a couple of evenings a week. A river walk on the final morning took us through the local parkland where there is a handicraft market, beautiful wooden carvings and a selection of activities for all, it is also the perfect picnic spot. There are several hotels a short walk along the river, the Hotel Rocher has a traditional alpine feel in peaceful gardens. Petit Tournalin is a lovely 3 star with a thermal suite which hired on a private basis at 10 euros per person ( per room or family group). The finally was riding the gondola to the top of the mountain for our last views of this beautiful destination! Until next time…..
