Abano Terme: A Hidden - Blissful Italian Escape

Abano Terme: A Hidden - Blissful Italian Escape

After a delightful 40-minute transfer from Venice airport, I was charmed by the countryside and traditional buildings. Arriving at the Grand Hotel Trieste and Victoria in Abano Terme, I was thrilled to discover this hidden gem of a spa town, which isn’t yet on the radar for many Brits. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed!

About Abano Terme
If you’re craving a relaxing Italian getaway, Abano Terme is just the ticket. Nestled in the Veneto region near Padua and the Euganean Hills, this spa town is famed for its therapeutic thermal waters and mud. These natural wonders have been celebrated for their healing properties since ancient times.

Here’s what you can expect:
Thermal Baths and Mud Treatments: Feel the rejuvenating effects of thermal waters and mud, known for their soothing and healing qualities.
Cultural Attractions: Check out nearby medieval castles, botanical gardens, Giotto frescoes, and the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua.

A Luxurious Stay:
I was lucky enough to stay in a brand-new Senior Suite at the hotel, decorated in elegant white. The spacious room had stunning views, and a chilled bottle of local Prosecco was waiting for me—perfect for unwinding and soaking in the beautiful surroundings.

The White Spa Experience:
The highlight of my stay? Definitely the White Spa. This place is an ethereal haven of relaxation. Here’s what made it special:
Personalised Consultation: I had a thorough health check with the spa doctor, who tailored my treatment plan based on my flexibility and health.

Thermal Mud Treatments:
Daily sessions of thermal mud, known for their therapeutic benefits, were complemented by a refreshing facial.

Blissful Relaxation:
After the mud application, I enjoyed a bubbly thermal bath that left my skin feeling incredible.

Culinary Delights:
The dining experience at the hotel was superb. With locally sourced, organic food catering to all dietary needs, the variety was impressive. Although I had to skip a few dishes, the healthy options made it easy to enjoy every meal.

Exploring Arquà Petrarca:
We also visited Arquà Petrarca, THE SECOND MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE IN ITALY according to Kilimangiaro 2017 on RAI 3. It’s a place where time seems to stand still. Nestled in the Euganean Hills, Arquà Petrarca has retained its medieval charm and owes its fame to Francesco Petrarca, the poet who spent his final years here.

Calici di Stelle:
One of the most memorable events was Calici di Stelle, which translates to "Glasses of Stars" or "Wine of a Starry Night" in local parlance. This enchanting evening was all about discovering the wine and food of the Euganean Hills. In the beautiful medieval village, wineries and restaurateurs showcased the region’s rich flavors. The event featured star-gazing with amateur astronomers and delightful music. With 27 wineries and 18 food exhibitors, it was a vibrant and friendly event, filled with incredible food and wines.

A Magical Evening:
Our visit also coincided with La Notte di San Lorenzo, Italy’s magical Shooting Stars night on August 10th. Italians gather to watch for shooting stars and make wishes, adding a touch of enchantment to our stay.

A Must-Visit Destination:
Abano Terme is a perfect escape from city life and a great addition to any Italian itinerary. Whether you’re looking to relax or explore, this hidden gem is a true delight.

A huge thank you to GB Hotels for an unforgettable trip—I can’t wait to return!
