Which Sani Hotel is right for me?

Which Sani Hotel is right for me?

A guide to choosing the perfect Sani Resort

I recently had the privilege of flying out to Halkidiki in Greece as ga uest of Sani to stay in their stunning and sophisticated Sani Dunes hotel, as well as visit all of the other properties within Sani Resorts.

Often a question I get asked is which of the five hotels is right for me? Being able to see and experience all five hotels at Sani Resort has really allowed me to gain first-hand knowledge and experience of the selling points that each hotel offers. With that in mind, I have put together this helpful guide about Sani Resort.

Introduction to Sani Resort

Set within 1,000 acres of beautiful pine forest, wetlands and pristine beaches on Greece’s Halkidiki peninsula, Sani Resort is home to five exceptional five-star hotels, each offering a slightly different experience.

Sustainability is a big part of the Sani Resort experience and its green credentials are impressive, with its award-winning Sani Green programme helping to protect the beautiful natural surroundings. Sani became Greece‘s first carbon-neutral resort in 2020 and now uses 100% renewable electricity. Its commitment extends beyond reducing its carbon footprint, with initiatives to protect local wildlife and biodiversity, including the Sani Wetlands, home to more than 225 bird species. The resort also works with local suppliers, sources over 60% of its fruit and vegetables locally, and has eliminated single-use plastics from guest-facing areas.

Whichever hotel you choose, you are able to enjoy the wider Sani Resort experience, including its beautiful beaches, marina, restaurants, bars and impressive choice of activities.

Sani Beach – the heart of the Sani experience

If you want to be close to the action, Sani Beach is a great choice. With a lively atmosphere, beautiful beachfront setting and an excellent choice of pools, it‘s ideal for families and first-time visitors. Its location makes exploring the marina, restaurants and wider resort particularly easy. It‘s a brilliant option if you want a little bit of everything.

Sports lovers will love the proximity to the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy and Chelsea Football Academy, while yoga and Pilates sessions on the beach offer a more relaxed way to stay active. There's also a great choice of watersports, on-site bike hire, and an impressively sized playground for younger children. With plenty of opportunities to keep all ages entertained, Sani Beach is a particularly good choice for active families.

Sani Beach will be undergoing a major three-year transformation between 2027 and 2029, with significant investment in its accommodation, restaurants and guest facilities. Renovations will take place over the winter seasons, when the resort is closed.

Sani Club – For a more peaceful escape and great for families

Sani Club was the original of the five hotels, opening in 1971 and initially known as Sani Beach Club. It is nestled on a hillside within the pine forest, surrounded by lush greenery and olive groves, overlooking the Aegean Sea and Mount Olympus, offering a more secluded and tranquil setting. It is at the complete other end of the resort from Sani Beach. It has its own beautiful sandy beach, impressive views (and sunsets), and a relaxed atmosphere that make it particularly appealing to families and couples who prefer a quieter base, without compromising on luxury or facilities.

For me, a big appeal of Sani Club is that it feels a bit like a private hideaway. The low-rise bungalow-style accommodation and spacious surroundings create a more intimate atmosphere than some of the larger resort hotels. The redesigned rooms and suites have a contemporary, nature-inspired feel. Some of the bungalow suites also have private gardens and swimming pools, offering extra space and privacy.

You’re not disconnected from the rest of the resort,t though. Sani opened a beachfront promenade in 2025 as part of a major development designed to connect Sani Club with the rest of Sani Resort. The promenade runs along the coastline, linking Sani Club with Sani Dunes, Sani Marina, Porto Sani, Sani Asterias and Sani Beach. It passes through landscaped areas and herb gardens, creating a much more scenic walking route between the hotels and resort facilities. It’s ideal for walking with buggies or for morning jogs.

And if guests prefer, they can also use electric Volvo buggy transfers to other parts of the resort.

Porto Sani – ideal for families

If space and comfort are high on your priority list, take a look at Porto Sani. This relaxed, all-suite hotel is particularly well suited to families, with spacious accommodation, family-friendly pools and easy access to the marina.

It's a lovely choice for families with younger children who want everything conveniently close by.

There is a dedicated crèche, kids’ club and complimentary childcare options alongside a choice of swimming pools and family-friendly dining. The hotel also has a lovely village-style feel, with the restaurants, shops and waterfront of Sani Marina just a short stroll away. It’s a great option for parents looking for a more relaxed pace without compromising on facilities or things to do.

Sani Dunes – contemporary luxury at its finest

With its sophisticated design, stylish surroundings and impressive lagoon-style swimming pool, Sani Dunes has a more grown-up feel. Its beautiful beachfront setting and relaxed atmosphere make it a particularly appealing choice for couples or families with older children looking for a little more peace.

This is where I stayed, and I was lucky enough to stay in a Deluxe Junior Suite Private Garden Beach Front. Upon opening my curtains each morning, I was greeted with stunning sea views across the Aegean to Mount Olympus. I would literally walk out of my garden onto the beach. The whole resort felt serene. I used the spa facilities on my stay and had one of the best massages I’ve ever experienced.

I also loved the spectacular lagoon pool - it is the largest of its kind in Greece. It winds its way around the hotel, with rooms and suites enjoying easy access to the water. I’d walk alongside it every morning on my walk to breakfast and see people getting in for an early dip or heading down to the sea for a morning sea swim.

I also LOVED the food! Fresco, the Italian restaurant, has a menu created by Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini, and Beach House offers Mediterranean dining by the sea in a stunning setting. The seafood was to die for here!

Sani Asterias – The ultimate luxury escape

For something really special, Sani Asterias is the most exclusive and intimate of the five hotels. With beautifully appointed spacious suites and residences, exceptional personal service and a wonderful marina-side location, it is something quite special. It's an excellent choice for couples celebrating a special occasion or anyone looking for a more private, luxurious experience. Due to the size of the suites and residences, it works perfectly for larger family groups.

Water, the hotel's flagship restaurant, has welcomed two-Michelin-starred chef Bruno Oger, a particularly strong selling point for food lovers. The hotel does sit right beside Sani Marina, so guests can enjoy the boutiques, restaurants and evening atmosphere before retreating to their own quieter sanctuary.

All accommodation benefits from the Suite Collection privileges, including a dedicated concierge, airport transfers, priority restaurant reservations and a private Volvo chauffeur tour.

If weighing up Dunes with Asterias, I would say that Asterias is the more intimate, exclusive option for guests seeking exceptional privacy and personalised service.
