🌴 My Recent Trip to the Maldives

My recent journey to the Maldives was nothing short of extraordinary. As part of keeping my travel advice personal and experience-led, my husband, my 22-year-old son, and I stayed at the stunning Sun Siyam World Maldives—and it was a trip I can confidently and wholeheartedly recommend.

✈️ A Smooth Start: Heathrow Club Rooms + Virgin Atlantic

We began our holiday in comfort by booking into the Club Rooms at Heathrow before our flight. This made the airport experience far more relaxing, giving us space to unwind, refresh, and enjoy a stress-free start.

We then flew direct with Virgin Atlantic, choosing Economy Delight seats—which I highly recommend. The extra 4 inches of legroom made a noticeable difference on a long-haul flight, offering much-needed comfort.

🤝 Arrival Made Easy: Meet & Greet + Seaplane Transfer

Upon landing in Malé, we used a Meet & Greet service, which made navigating the airport effortless after the long flight. We were then taken to the Sun Siyam World lounge while waiting for our seaplane transfer.

The 45-minute seaplane journey was a highlight in itself, offering panoramic views of the atolls—one of the most breathtaking introductions to the Maldives.

🏝️ Arrival at Sun Siyam World: Greeted by Our Ambassador

On arrival at the island, we were welcomed by our Ambassador, Taka, who looked after us throughout our stay. He took us straight to our villa, making the transition from seaplane to relaxation seamless.

We’d already completed pre-check-in a few weeks earlier through the resort app, which sped things up beautifully. The app also allowed us to pre-book our restaurant reservations and excursions—a huge help during a busy season.

🏡 Our Villa: Two-Bedroom Overwater Paradise

Our home for the trip was a Two-Bedroom Overwater Villa with a private pool and slide, and it exceeded every expectation. The villa offered privacy, space, luxury, and direct access to the lagoon—plus the slide added so much fun for all of us (yes, adults included!).

🐢 Lucky Turtle Snorkelling Safari: A Magical Experience

One of the absolute highlights of the trip was the Lucky Turtle Snorkelling Safari. We were incredibly fortunate—we saw four beautiful turtles gliding through the water and even spotted a pod of dolphins during the journey. It was one of those unforgettable moments that make the Maldives truly special.
