Ozen Reserve Bolifushi - Maldives
At the end of June 2024 I was lucky enough to take an eight night trip to the Maldives, staying on four different Maldives Islands, my last two nights were at the luxury 5* Ozen Reserve Bolifushi Resort.
Ozen Reserve Bolifushi is located in the South Malé Atoll, offers a luxurious arrival experience with transfers via a luxury speedboat taking around 25 minutes from Male. We transferred from Ozen Life Maadhoo but if you arrive into Male airport, while you wait for your transfer you are able to indulge with complimentary Ozen lounge access, allowing you to have a refreshing drink & Wi-Fi access too, which is always a bonus!
On arrival into Bolifushi, we were greeted with a warm welcome with local music, a fresh coconut drink and even a mini foot treatment upon arrival, stepping into paradise in style!
This island, the largest we stayed on during our eight nights, but it features only 90 villas across 8 categories, each with its own private pool and either beach or lagoon access, so lot’s of space to move around, with photo opportunities around every corner, making Bolifushi is a real Instagrammers paradise!
My colleague Becci and I were lucky enough to stay in an Earth Pool Reserve Sunset 2-Bedroom Villa, which was incredibly spacious. The villa included had a huge lounge, master bedroom with en suite, and a games room with a pool table and twin bedroom upstairs. We also had two furnished balconies, a large L-shaped pool, an outdoor dining area and direct beach access with additional sunbeds. These villas are ideal for couples or small families, they are very spacious and beautifully decorated, with a large bathroom area. They even have a private outdoor bathtub, so you can take a bubble bath outdoors in the Maldives!
Every villa comes with a dedicated butler, available 24/7 via WhatsApp, and guests can use their own push bikes or hop on a buggy for easy island travel, you can request the buggy pick-up from the butler. Each push bike has a wooden label with your name on it when you arrive at your villa to greet you, which you can take home as a souvenir too. I absolutely loved navigating my way around the resort on push bike, taking in all the sights and sounds and trying to be careful when cycling on the open wooden deck to the water villas!
Whilst we had a glimpse of the ultra-luxurious accommodations that cater to the elite (think $12k per night!), it’s the island’s food and beverage offerings that truly stand out at Ozen Life Bolifushi, with seven different dining options, including Vista Del Mar, the main buffet restaurant with live cooking stations, and Saffron, an Indian restaurant serving a three-course plated dinner in one sitting, the richness of Indian flavours and culinary traditions comes alive here, it is the place to be for authentic Indian cuisine in the Maldives. Our dining experience in Cuvee, with a wine pairing tasting menu, worthy of a Michelin Star (or three!) was something else, with the chef coming to meet me to discuss my food intolerances and adjust the menu too.
Every guest whim is taken care of at Ozen Reserve Bolifushi and with a staff-to-guest ratio of one to three, it is easy to understand why.
The island has a water sports centre, offering non-motorised water sports and snorkelling equipment. The resort of Bolifushi is also home to two sprawling house reefs! There’s even a small shipwreck located just in front of the dive centre, where marine life is in abundance.
If you are a food lover, like the finer things in life and want to create unforgettable memories in the Maldives and have the budget to do it, then Ozen Reserve Bolifushi is where you should head to.
