Oblu Select Sangeli Maldives

At the end of June 2024 I had the pleasure of taking a trip to four different Maldives Islands, with Oblu Select Sangeli, being my second hotel on the eight night trip.

Oblu Sangeli is a stunning 5* resort island, 50 minutes by speedboat from Male airport.
As you arrive into Sangeli, you are met by what can only be described as a “Paradise Island” with the purest whitest sand and crystal clear turquoise blue waters, it is simply stunning and really does “take your breath away”!

Oblu Select Sangeli consists of 137 detached villas ranging from beach villas (with and without pools) to water villas (with or without pools), which face either sunrise or sunset and six honeymoon select ocean villas.

I stayed in a water villa, this was absolutely stunning, with a glass panel in the bedroom to the ocean, a bath AND a separate shower room with a clear view over the beautiful Indian Ocean.

You can snorkel in the sea off your deck in the water villas and see an abundance or marine life all around you, including manta and eagle rays!

Oblu Select Sangeli offers the “serenity plan” which includes:- All-day dining experiences such as "The Courtyard" restaurant, which overlooks the pristine azure waters. Speciality dining at Just Wok and Just Grill along with the buffet and show cooking at The Courtyard means there is enough variety and excellent dining options to satisfy the most discerning palate. I was really impressed with both evening meals at Just Wok and Just Grill (who also catered very well for my gluten intolerance) but I also loved the main restaurant. Breakfast in the main restaurant was a real delight, with everything from fresh fruits; yogurts; delicious pastries to a variety of hot food with a live cooking station for fresh omelettes and eggs all ways.

There are unlimited beverages from a great range of bars, including those with an ocean breeze and sunset views, my best tip is head over to the sultry “Rock bar” for sundowners where you can chill out on seats or bean bags and watch the stunning sunsets!

Sangeli has a dive centre which also offers water sports activities and complimentary access to snorkelling, fishing trips and non-motorised water sports equipment too.
Plus selected excursions and one 45-minute spa treatment per person currently* for every 4-night stay are also included as part of your stay.  

Adults are well catered for with an adult only pool and bar, plus the spa is excellent offering a variety of treatments.

Sangeli is also a child friendly resort which caters to families with a children’s club and water slide into the ocean but also attracts many couples and honeymooners.

If you are looking for a laid back atmosphere but with a 5* experience but with the ascent on good food and accommodation and paradisical surroundings then the 5* Oblu Select Sangeli is a perfect choice for you.

I  would not hesitate to return here or recommend this hotel/island to others
