The Maldives is so much more than an ideal destination for honeymooners - read on to find out more.
In the Maldives you will find turquoise reefs, whte soft sandy beaches, friendly locals who have spent their days languishing in the very essence of idyll living. This really is a perfect place to relax, unwind and spend quality time with people who matter.
The Maldives are made up of a total of 1190 islands with over 100 Island resorts. You fly into Male, which is the Capital Island and from there you take either a speedboat or seaplane to your chosen resort.
The time difference depending on which island is between 4 and 5 hours ahead and the weather is hot all year (average 30 degrees Celcius), although the dry season is December until March.
Getting There - You will find regular direct flights with British Aiways from London. For those customers looking for a more convenient regional option there is a choice of airlines who operate via other exciting and yet convenient destinations like Dubai - a perfect solution for those planning a two-centre holiday.
Sea Plane or Speedboat? - Either option is an amazing experience and, if you have the time why not consider visiting two or more of the islands - then you would have a chance to sample both methods of transport.
Most islands located within half an hour or so of Male offer speedboat transfers and the hotels have their own speedboats waiting to whisk you away straight away after collecting your luggage from your flight. The colours of the sea are vivid, you will see the sea changing colours as you pass by tiny and larger islands until you reach your Island Resort.
For those Resort Islands that are further away the option is the sea plane, my firm favourite and a very safe way to travel. You will be met by your pilot (wearing flip flops!), take your seat, fighting for a window one if you can and then off you go, from water into the air and be prepared with your cameras as the views are incredible and the 50 minutes or so flies by!
Which Resort Island? - The Maldives have something to suit every taste and budget. You will find larger islands where there are lots of activities going on, to the smaller more intimate islands where it's all about not being seen and doing nothing.
You will find barefoot luxury at stunning islands like Huvafen Fushi, where there is no need for dressing up and even shoes are just not required. Try one of the newest Islands like Niyama, which will have an underwater nightclub and a great activity programme. Lux Resorts have a fantastic family friendly island and Reethi Rah will be for those who like to be seen.
There really are options for all tastes and budgets, just let us know what you are looking for and leave the rest to us.
Over Water or on the Beach? - Each resort will usually offer the options for over water villas or beach front suites. Most islands are very private and give you lots of opportunities to be in your own space. Having a villa over water though is the ultimate experience and one you should seriously consider, even if you spend just a few nights of your holiday in one. Many hotels offer guests the chance to experience more than one room type so you get to enjoy a two-centre holiday without ever leaving your resort!
Twin Centre Options - The Maldives can be combined with many other destination_blogs. The obvious ones are Dubai, Sri Lanka and South Africa but the options are much wider and could include: - Thailand, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Kenya as well as using the Maldives as a stopover en-route to of from Australia or New Zealand. Again, just let us know what you are looking for and leave the rest to us.
The beach accommodation options offer some of the best value for money and are also amazing, as the beaches really do have the softest, whitest sand that you could possibly imagine.
Special Offers - Many of the hotels have special offers including free nights, meal upgrades and room upgrades, so just let us know what you are looking for and your budget and leave the rest to us to find you a perfect piece of paradise.
