☀️ Florida Uncovered: Sunshine, Thrills & Beachfront Bliss...
I’ve just returned from the most incredible week in Florida with Ocean Florida – and honestly, what a trip! From villa tours and theme park thrills to dreamy beaches and golden Gulf sunsets, it was one of those whirlwind weeks that leaves you buzzing with inspiration (and possibly in need of a good foot soak afterwards!).
🏡 Villa Life in Reunion
We kicked off our trip in Reunion, staying in a gorgeous nine-bedroom villa – think open-plan living, a sociable kitchen and lounge area, and a private pool all to ourselves. It’s the perfect setup for families or groups who love the freedom of their own space without compromising on comfort. No rushing for breakfast, no sunbed scrambles – just easy mornings and total flexibility.
During the week, we also visited villas across Encore at Reunion, Windsor Island, and ChampionsGate. From stylish townhouses to incredible luxury homes with themed bedrooms, cinema rooms and games lounges, there really is something for everyone.
It reinforced what I always tell my clients: for larger families or multi-gen holidays, Florida’s villas offer unbeatable comfort and amazing value.
🏰 Disney Magic & Cirque du Soleil Nights
Of course, no Orlando trip is complete without a little Disney magic! We spent the day at Magic Kingdom – Insta-perfect photos in front of the castle, the mesmerising fireworks, the parades and that unmistakable Disney buzz.
That evening, we headed to Disney Springs for dinner at Summer House on the Lake (highly recommend!), followed by the incredible Cirque du Soleil show. The performance was phenomenal – jaw-dropping talent and the perfect way to end a magical day.
A special highlight was touring Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The African-inspired design, warm atmosphere and savannah views – complete with giraffes and zebras strolling by – make it one of the most unique stays in Orlando.
🎢 Universal Orlando & Halloween Horror Nights 🎃
Next up was a full day of fun (and plenty of adrenaline!) at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. The attention to detail across both parks is incredible – from mischievous Minions to the heart-racing VelociCoaster, and of course, the pure magic of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (yes, the dragon really does breathe fire!).
Then came Halloween Horror Nights – and wow, what an experience! I wouldn’t normally call myself a jumpy person… but they got me, good! The creativity and atmosphere were next-level – spooky, theatrical, and so much fun. Definitely a must-do if you’re visiting in autumn.
🏨 Universal Hotels – Stay Close to the Action
We also explored several of Universal’s hotels, each with its own personality. The Hard Rock Hotel is vibrant and full of energy, Loews Portofino Bay oozes Italian charm, and Loews Royal Pacific brings a relaxed, tropical vibe.
The newest addition, the Helios Grand Hotel, is sleek, modern and a really exciting option. Staying here is a total game-changer as you get direct access to the new EPIC Park from the hotel (think 20 steps from the lift to the entrance gate!). Staying at the Helios also means getting you early park entry... Allowing you to get on your favourite rides before the crowds arrive!
Top tip: Don’t miss the rooftop bar – it serves great light bites and cocktails, with stunning sunset views. 100% worth booking a table!
🎡 Shopping, ICON Park & Gatorland
Between park days, we squeezed in a little retail therapy at The Mall at Millenia, a beautiful shopping destination packed with designer stores and fabulous dining.
We also spent an evening at ICON Park, which has a lovely laid-back feel. With restaurants, The Wheel, Madame Tussaud’s, live music and more, it’s perfect for a relaxed night without the big crowds.
Another surprise favourite was Gatorland – a true Florida classic that combines family fun with genuine heart. It’s full of character and supports real rescue and conservation work. With a splash park, zipline and daily shows, it’s fun, educational and authentically Floridian.
🌴 The Don CeSar – Florida’s Iconic Pink Palace
Our final stop was the legendary Don CeSar on St. Pete Beach – and wow, what a way to end the trip. Known as The Pink Palace, this glamorous hotel has been welcoming guests since 1928 (even Marilyn Monroe honeymooned here!).
It’s effortlessly elegant yet welcoming, with soft pink tones, stunning beachfront views and incredible dining. The whole place oozes old-school charm with a modern twist – I completely fell in love with it.
The beach here is just as STUNNING!! Think white sand, turquoise waters & the most beautiful sunrises/ sunsets. We were very lucky & did see wild dolphins one morning.g
TOP TIP: absolutely worth getting up for an early morning dip... The sea is warm & the skies are just beautiful.
🪓 Axe Throwing & The Dalí Museum
One of the surprise highlights of the week? Axe throwing! Such a laugh and a great way to blow off steam after busy park days. It’s fast-paced, surprisingly competitive and more of a workout than you’d expect – perfect for groups or team trips.
Over in St. Petersburg, we also visited the Salvador Dalí Museum, and it completely blew me away. The architecture is stunning, and the exhibits are creative, thought-provoking and a refreshing contrast to the theme park energy.
🐬 JW Marriott Clearwater Beach – Boutique Luxury
We stopped by the JW Marriott Clearwater Beach for lunch, and it’s absolutely beautiful. Modern, sophisticated and peaceful, with a rooftop pool and restaurant overlooking the Gulf. The private beach feels exclusive and calm – a true five-star hideaway ideal for couples or families wanting a quieter, more refined stay.
🌅 Florida, You’ve been amazing...
The theme parks are world-class, but there’s so much more beyond the gates – luxury villas, beautiful coastlines, culture, incredible dining, and some of the warmest hospitality you’ll find anywhere.
Where else can you go from rollercoasters to white-sand beaches in just a couple of hours? Florida really does have it all. 💛
