🏰 Siena – A Medieval Masterpiece

If you ever find yourself in Tuscany, Siena is an absolute must-see. This charming hilltop city is bursting with history, character, and seriously jaw-dropping views. It’s one of my favourite day trips from Florence, easy to get to and full of authentic Italian charm.

👀 WOW – Talk About Views!

Our Sunday afternoon adventure took us to the Panorama del Facciatone, a stunning terrace built on the unfinished facade of Siena’s cathedral extension. This spot gives you incredible 360-degree views over the terracotta rooftops of Siena and the rolling Tuscan countryside beyond.

Yes, the spiral staircase to the top is a bit of a climb (legs were burning 😅), but 100% worth it for the photo opportunities alone!

✨ Travel Fact:
The Facciatone is part of a 14th-century plan to expand the cathedral into what would have been the largest church in Europe, but the project was abandoned due to the Black Plague. What remains today is a fascinating piece of architectural history with unbeatable views.

🌇 Best Sunset Spot: Fortezza Medicea

For golden hour lovers, head to the Fortezza Medicea just before sunset. This fortress is now a peaceful park where locals gather for a walk, aperitivo, or a quiet moment to watch the sun go down over the Tuscan hills. The views are next-level!

🍷 Dinner Recommendation: Antica Osteria da Divo

Looking for an unforgettable dining experience? Antica Osteria da Divo is a real gem. Set in ancient Etruscan caves, the atmosphere is just as impressive as the food. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a special treat to end the day.
