Krakow at Christmas

Krakow at Christmas

Having just returned from the enchanting city of Kraków, I can honestly say it’s every bit as wonderful as it looks. This historic gem in southern Poland offers a perfect blend of culture, history, and festive charm, making it an ideal destination for a winter city break.

Why Visit Kraków in Winter?

From traditional Christmas markets to cosy cafés serving hearty Polish cuisine, Kraków has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with its crisp winter air. During our stay, temperatures dropped to a brisk 9°C with wind chill, and snowflakes danced through the air, creating a magical backdrop for sightseeing.

Unforgettable Experiences

Auschwitz & Birkenau: Visiting these poignant sites in the snow was a deeply moving experience, one that stays with you forever.

Wieliczka Salt Mines: After the chill outside, we warmed up underground in this incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site, exploring its vast chambers and salt-carved wonders.

Christmas Markets & Local Shops: Kraków’s festive markets are a treasure trove of handmade gifts, traditional treats, and seasonal cheer.

Where We Stayed

We chose Stradonia Apartments, a spacious three-bedroom apartment perfect for families. After busy days exploring, it was wonderful to relax together, play games, and share laughter in a home-from-home setting.
