Why we love Puerto Pollensa
Why we love Puerto Pollensa
As a family we have visited Puerto Pollensa on many occasions and we will visit again in the summer this year. Puerto Pollensa has some of the most stunning scenery on this lovely island. There is a long promenade, which is flat and ideal for children in prams or toddlers. The resort is perfect for all ages - multi generational families will love it here - from children to parents, gran-parents and great grand-parents. There are lots of local restaurants offering all sorts of Mediterranean dishes - enjoy tapas or lots of other Mallorquin food - from fish to port with generous helpings of vegetables grown locally. The sobrassada is a trendy Spanish pizza topping or maybe try the tombet ,which is a Mediterranean dish compromising of aubergines, potatoes, red peppers, tomatoes, olive oil and garlic.
The resort has lots of children‘s play areas close to or on the beach and with the various local beach bars close at hand you can keep an eye on the children having fun whilst you sip on a cocktail and watch the sunset.
The town is overlooked by the Tramuntana Mountain range. The site is considered to be a UNESCO World Heritage site and features the highest peak on the Balearic Islands reaching a height of over 1,444 metres. Children can take part along the easier trails - guided hikes can offer some great insights in the flora and fauna of the location along with the local history and culture. It's a very popular destination for those who enjoy cycling.
Local transport is very reliable and cheap. You can visit the old town or take a trip to Alcudia where the beaches are just stunning. Car hire in Majorca is reasonably priced however car numbers are limited so book the car hire before you go.
With a flight that is only just 2.5 hours away if you are looking for a great family holiday look no further - give me a call and I'll tell you more about our adventures as a family and the hotels we have stayed in.
