Exploring Iberostar Hotels in Majorca – My First-Hand Experience

I recently had the opportunity to join a fantastic familiarisation trip with Designer Travel, where we explored five stunning Iberostar properties across Majorca. Travelling with Jet2.com and alongside representatives from Iberostar and Kuoni, the trip gave me a valuable first-hand insight into the hotels, locations, service and overall guest experience — helping me recommend the right property for future clients with confidence.

It was also great to spend time with a representative from Kuoni during the trip. Their luxury travel expertise and insight into the premium holiday market added another dimension to the experience, particularly when discussing the types of clients each Iberostar property would suit best.

About the Iberostar Brand

Before this trip, I already knew the Iberostar name well as I have stayed at a few of them myself and have always enjoyed them, but it was really interesting to learn more about the company behind the hotels.

Iberostar is a father-and-daughters family-run business and currently has around 100 hotels worldwide. Throughout the trip, there was a real sense that the company genuinely cares about both guest experience and long-term sustainability, rather than simply operating large resorts.

One part that I found particularly fascinating was learning about Iberostar’s Coral Lab in the Dominican Republic. The project focuses on restoring and protecting coral reefs, helping to support marine ecosystems and preserve the oceans for future generations. It was impressive to see such a strong commitment to environmental responsibility alongside luxury travel experiences.

Iberostar also explained their three hotel brand segments, each aimed at different types of travellers:

Iberostar Waves – ‘Playful’ 4* & 5*

These hotels are designed with fun, active and family-focused holidays in mind.

From what we experienced during the trip, I would say they are ideal for:
• Families
• Multi-generational holidays
• Guests wanting entertainment and activities
• Beachfront family escapes

Iberostar Selection – 'Style & Premium Touches' 4* & 5*

The Selection properties offer a more elevated experience, combining stylish surroundings with premium touches while still feeling relaxed and welcoming.

Personally, I think these hotels are perfect for:
• Couples
• Families wanting a more premium feel
• Special occasion holidays
• Guests wanting modern luxury without feeling overly formal

JOIA by Iberostar Hotels – 'Luxury' 5*

This is Iberostar’s luxury collection, focused on high-end personalised experiences and premium service.

These hotels would suit:
• Luxury travellers
• Honeymooners
• Adults looking for exclusivity and relaxation
• Clients wanting a more boutique-style luxury experience

The Hotels we visited during our stay were:

• Iberostar Selection Es Trenc
• Iberostar Waves Playa de Muro
• Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Village
• Iberostar Waves Alcudia Park
• Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa & Park

Travelling to Majorca

Our journey to Majorca with Jet2.com was seamless from start to finish. Flight times were convenient, the onboard experience was comfortable and relaxed, and the whole journey felt extremely well organised.

For many clients, convenience plays a huge part in choosing a holiday, and Jet2.com really delivers on that. From generous baggage allowances and friendly service to efficient transfers and regional airport departures, it’s easy to see why they remain such a popular choice for Mediterranean holidays.

The transfer arrangements on arrival were smooth and straightforward, allowing us to begin the trip stress-free and make the most of our time exploring the Iberostar properties.

Travelling with both Iberostar and Kuoni representatives also added a valuable extra layer to the experience, giving us the opportunity to learn more about the hotels, the brand philosophy and the types of holidays and clients each property is best suited to.

One thing worth mentioning was experiencing the new EES (Entry/Exit System) process on arrival. Although the queues initially looked quite long, they moved along very quickly, and the process was generally well organised.

I did personally have a slight issue when completing the fingerprint section. One of the assistants helping at the machines pressed my fingers down a little too firmly (in my opinion), which meant the machine repeatedly failed to accept my fingerprints. Because of this, I had to join a separate queue for manual border control instead.

While this delayed me slightly — and by the time I got through my colleagues had already collected their luggage — overall the process still moved efficiently. It was useful to experience the system first-hand, particularly as it’s something many travellers will now encounter when travelling to Europe.

Iberostar Selection Es Trenc

The first hotel we visited was Iberostar Selection Es Trenc, and it certainly made an impression.

Located close to beautiful turquoise waters and in a fantastic beachfront location, the hotel offers a stylish and relaxing atmosphere throughout. The interiors feel modern and elegant, while still maintaining a calm and welcoming feel.

One thing that particularly stood out to me was Iberostar’s strong focus on sustainability and protecting the surrounding environment. The hotel is completely single-use plastic free, uses 100% renewable electricity and has been designed to improve energy efficiency throughout.

I was especially impressed with the smart food waste management system in place, along with the purified water fountains available for guests. Iberostar also places a strong emphasis on responsible fish and seafood consumption, which was great to hear about.

Another fantastic feature is that all rooms have sea views, making the most of the hotel’s stunning coastal location. The hotel has also been completely refurbished in 2025, giving it a fresh, modern and luxurious feel throughout.

What stood out to me:

• Stunning sea views
• Beautifully designed interiors
• Relaxed luxury atmosphere
• Excellent location
• Strong sustainability focus
• Completely refurbished in 2025
• Ideal for couples and those wanting a peaceful escape

The pool areas and outdoor spaces were particularly impressive, creating the perfect setting for relaxing in the Majorcan sunshine.

Who I would recommend this hotel for?

I think this hotel would suit:
• Couples
• Honeymooners
• Luxury travellers
• Clients looking for a relaxing beach escape

Hotel Inspections – Playa de Muro, Playa de Muro Village & Alcudia Park

During the trip we stayed at Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa, which provided a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding area and visiting the other Iberostar properties.

On our second day, we took part in a cycle ride to our next hotel inspections:

• Iberostar Waves Playa de Muro
• Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Village
• Iberostar Waves Alcudia Park

The cycle ride itself was great fun and definitely something a little different. Considering I hadn’t been on a bicycle for approximately 25+ years, I didn’t do too badly — aside from one slight detour into a bush on the ride back! Apart from a bruised ego and a scraped knee, I think the bush came off worse. It certainly gave my fellow colleagues behind me a good laugh when I emerged from the bush… shame nobody managed to catch it on video!

These hotels were all very family-focused, with excellent facilities for children, spacious pool areas, entertainment options and direct beach access, making them ideal choices for family holidays in Majorca.

Exploring Iberostar Selection Albufera Park & Playa

On our third day, we had the opportunity to explore Iberostar Selection Albufera Park & Playa in more detail, including the Star Prestige area.

The adults-only rooftop area was absolutely stunning, featuring a beautiful pool area and incredible panoramic views across Alcudia Bay. It offered a much more exclusive and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for guests looking for a more premium experience within the hotel.

The hotel itself had a relaxed but stylish feel throughout, with excellent facilities and direct access to the beach.

Alcudia Old Town

In the afternoon, we took a bus ride into Alcudia Old Town.

Inside the old city walls, the town is full of quaint narrow streets, traditional buildings and plenty of lovely shops, cafés and restaurants. It had a completely different atmosphere to the beachfront resorts and offered an authentic feel of Majorca.

It was the perfect way to spend a relaxed afternoon and is somewhere I would recommend visitors explore during their stay.

Overall Thoughts on Iberostar Hotels in Majorca

This trip really highlighted the quality and variety within the Iberostar portfolio in Majorca. Whether clients are looking for a family holiday, luxury escape, beachfront location or relaxing retreat, there is genuinely something to suit a wide range of travellers.

What impressed me most was the balance between beautiful hotel experiences and Iberostar’s genuine focus on sustainability, environmental responsibility and protecting the destinations they operate in.

Having now experienced the hotels first-hand, I feel much more confident recommending the right property based on individual client needs and preferences.
