My Stay at Ikos Porto Petro

My Stay at Ikos Porto Petro
Tucked away on Mallorca’s quieter southeastern coast, Ikos Porto Petro feels like a retreat designed for switching off completely. From the moment I arrived, the usual urgency of travel disappeared—replaced by something slower, softer, and far more indulgent.
Mornings began gently, often with coffee on the terrace before heading off to Breakfast. There was no sense of having to rush anywhere, and whilst I strolled along the pathways meandering through scented and pristine gardens,s everyone I encountered exuded the same sense of calm and contentment.
One of the standout highlights of the stay for me was the dining. Each evening felt like a completely new experience. At Ouzo, the Greek flavours were fresh and vibrant in a relaxed open-air setting, while Oliva brought a more refined take on Mediterranean cuisine. Fresco leaned into elegant Italian dishes, and Anaya added something entirely different with its Asian-inspired menu. The variety meant no two meals felt the same, yet the quality remained consistently high throughout.
I also took part in a wine tasting session during my stay, which became one of those unexpectedly memorable experiences. It wasn’t rushed or overly formal, just a relaxed, guided session that encouraged you to slow down, learn a little, and actually enjoy the moment.
Beyond dining, what really sets the resort apart is the sheer breadth of facilities and activities. The spa is a destination in itself, calm, expansive, and beautifully designed, with everything from treatment rooms to a thermal suite, indoor pool, sauna, and relaxation areas. It’s the kind of space where time disappears entirely, whether you’re there for a treatment or just a quiet hour away from the sun.
The gym is equally impressive, modern, well-equipped, and open enough to feel energising rather than enclosed. It would be easy to fit in workouts without it feeling like a chore, which is rare on holiday.
Outside, movement feels just as effortless. Complimentary bike hire makes it easy to explore the resort’s surroundings and nearby coastal routes, and it quickly becomes one of the simplest pleasures of the stay, cycling between pine-lined paths and quiet viewpoints at your own pace.
For something more structured, the activity offering is genuinely extensive. There are padel courts, tennis courts, and even a mini football pitch, all integrated into the resort in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Our small group were supposed to try Pad; however, as it was scheduled shortly after our Wine Tasting experience, we decided not to partake.
There are also fitness and wellness classes throughout the day, yoga, Pilates, aqua aerobics, and stretching sessions—so it’s easy to dip in and out depending on your mood. It never feels like you’re missing out if you choose to do nothing at all, which is perhaps the biggest luxury of all.
Wanting to explore beyond the hotel, I used the Local Discovery experience for a day trip to Palm, which took around 50 minutes in our Electrically Powered Mini Clubman. The contrast was refreshing. Palma felt vibrant and full of li,fe "even on a Sunday, historic streets, cafés, and architecture that added depth to the trip. It reminded me that while the resort is designed as a complete escape, Mallorca itself is just as compelling just beyond it.
It’s also worth mentioning how thoughtfully the resort is designed from both a sustainability and accessibility perspective. Its layout works with the natural landscape rather than against it, and there’s a clear emphasis on low-impact living—electric transport options, carefully integrated buildings, and experiences that encourage exploration of the island in a more responsible way.
One of the more interesting aspects of Ikos Porto Petro is that its sustainability credentials go far beyond the usual “eco-friendly luxury” language that many resorts use. The environmental focus feels embedded into the design and operation of the hotel itself rather than added on afterwards. Perhaps the most significant achievement is that the resort became the first newly built hotel in Mallorca to receive BREEAM certification, one of the world’s leading sustainability assessments for buildings. Ikos Porto Petro achieved a “Very Good” rating under the BREEAM ES New Construction scheme. I noticed a small Solar Farm discreetly tucked away out of sight, and there was no single-use plastic. Guests are also encouraged to eat out at a nearby restaurant in Porto Petro, which they‘ve partnered with, and this comes at no additional cost.
Accessibility at Ikos Porto Petro feels thoughtfully integrated into the experience itself. From the electric buggy service and adapted rooms to the lifts and pathways connecting the resort, there’s a clear effort to make such a large waterfront property feel comfortable and inclusive for a wide range of guests. The resort itself also includes:
lifts connecting accommodation areas,
ramps throughout much of the property,
step-free access across many public spaces,
and adapted rooms (Promo Only) specifically designed for guests with limited mobility,
Some adapted rooms feature bathrooms with accessible facilities, wider layouts, and easier navigation for wheelchair users or guests requiring additional support. What’s particularly reassuring is that the accessibility design appears integrated rather than clinical. The resort still feels elegant and relaxed, while quietly incorporating features that make movement easier and more comfortable for a wide range of guests.
Back at the hotel, it was often the simplest moments that stayed with me most, drifting between spaces, unhurried dinners, and that feeling of everything being taken care of without needing to think about it.
By the time I left, Ikos Porto Petro had done something rare. It didn’t just offer luxury, it created space to truly slow down, while still giving you the freedom to be as active, curious, or still as you wanted.
