๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Lake Como Love: My Favourite Spots Around the Lake

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Lake Como Love: My Favourite Spots Around the Lake

โ™ฅ๏ธ VARENNA & LECCO โ€“ HIDDEN GEMS ON LAKE COMO ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

This was hands down one of my favourite Lake Como adventures. We hopped on the train from Como to Varenna (so cheap and easy โ€“ honestly the Italian rail service is amazing!), then stopped at Lecco on the way back.

I completely fell in love with Varenna โ€“ it felt like stepping into a postcard. Picture charming little beaches, colourful buildings, and restaurants with dreamy lake views. Itโ€™s such a gem and somewhere I would 100% return to.

Lecco, located on what I kept calling the โ€œright legโ€ of the lake ๐Ÿคฃ, is less touristy than some of the other towns. We enjoyed a wander and tucked into some seriously good calzone pizzas just in time for sunset before hopping on the train back to Como.

โœจ BELLAGIO โ€“ EVEN THE RAIN COULDNโ€™T RUIN IT ๐Ÿ’ง

Even on a grey, rainy day, Bellagio was stunning. The fast ferry wasnโ€™t running that morning, so we took the slow ferry from Como, it took about 2.5 hours with stops along the way, but it was a fab way to see more of the lake.

Ferry tickets were around โ‚ฌ20 return and flexible throughout the day, you can book online or go early to avoid queues (especially on the way back!). We got lucky with the fast ferry home, taking just over an hour, which was perfect after a full day of exploring.

๐Ÿ’ก Fun fact: The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas was inspired by this charming little town! Definitely worth a visit.

๐Ÿž COMO โ€“ THE PERFECT BASE TO EXPLORE FROM ๐Ÿ

We stayed in an apartment in Como and it made the perfect base for getting out and about. Both the ferries and trains are so regular and affordable, we were able to visit so many towns around the lake without needing a car.

The town itself is absolutely gorgeous, with lovely piazzas, lakeside walks, and plenty of great places to eat and drink. Itโ€™s one of those places that feels both lively and laid-back all at once.

๐Ÿšก BRUNATE CABLE CAR โ€“ VIEWS FOR DAYS ๐Ÿ˜

This oneโ€™s a must! We took the cable car from Como up to Brunate, and the views were unreal. A return ticket is just โ‚ฌ6 and the ride only takes 7 minutes or you can walk up in about an hour (if youโ€™re feeling energetic ๐Ÿ˜…).

Up in Brunate, there are cute little restaurants with jaw-dropping views over the lake, perfect for a relaxed lunch or early evening drink.

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: Go early (before 10.30am) to beat the queues โ€“ or head up later for sunset views!

๐Ÿš† DAY TRIP TO MILAN โ€“ EASY & WORTH IT ๐Ÿ’ผ

One of the best things about staying in Como is how well connected it is, we even took a train into Milan for the day. It only takes around 40 minutes and costs about โ‚ฌ5 each. Honestly, Iโ€™ll say it again, the Italian rail service is unreal!

Whether you want a full lake-based holiday or want to mix in some city exploring, Como gives you the best of both worlds ๐Ÿ’›
