Budapest in a weekend
Budapest in a weekend
The stunning capital of Hungary offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and relaxation for a memorable weekend getaway. Just a short flight from the UK, this vibrant city is an ideal destination for those looking to escape the everyday hustle. I always suggest the Hop On Hop off Bus to find your bearings when going to a new City, some include a short River Cruise on the Danube with the tickets.
Day 1: Explore the Heart of the City Start your adventure in Pest, where you can stroll along the iconic Andrássy Avenue. Don’t miss the impressive Hungarian State Opera House. Afterwards, head to the bustling Deák Ferenc Square and enjoy a traditional Hungarian lunch at a local bistro. In the afternoon, visit the majestic St. Stephen‘s Basilica, then take a leisurely walk across the Chain Bridge to Buda.
Day 2: Discover Buda‘s Charm Begin your day at Buda Castle, where panoramic views of the Danube await. Wander through the charming streets of the Castle District and stop by Matthias Church for its stunning architecture. After exploring, unwind at the famous Széchenyi Thermal Baths, where you can soak in the mineral-rich waters. In the evening, head back to Pest for dinner in the Jewish Quarter, home to trendy ruin bars ( which are a must to see, but not to spend a great amount of time in) and exceptional cuisine. On the same street, as the Ruin Bars is a place called Street Food Karavan Budapest, I loved this small outdoor eating and drinking area, where locals are in abundance. Enjoy a night out with some live music or a unique cultural experience.
Final Thoughts Budapest offers a wealth of experiences that cater to every traveller’s interests. Whether you're captivated by its history or looking to relax, this city promises an unforgettable weekend escape from the UK. Book your trip today and immerse yourself in Budapest’s charm!
