Bin El Ouidane to Marrakech
Bin El Ouidane to Marrakech
Up at 7 today taking photos from the balcony.
Breakfast is good but the service is very slow – I think they are staff training after reopening after Covid.
We spend some time taking in the views, the hotel here at Widiane Resort has a stunning setting, it is difficult to tear oneself away from the fantastic poolside & stunning lake views but before we know it, it is time to depart at 10am.
Our drive takes us through rural landscape stopping at Ouzoud Waterfalls – the second tallest waterfall in Africa, although there are other visitors around it feels peaceful and we have plenty of opportunity to take photos and enjoy a refreshing drink at a cafe with great views of the falls.
After this we continue on our journey this time heading for our final destination – Marrakech – we arrive around 4pm – BCK Art Riad is our resting place for our last 2 nights on the tour.
We are shown to our rooms, ours (as do the others) all over look the central courtyard with its swimming pool. We are on the top floor and whilst the room is not very big it makes up for its lack of size with its character.
The Riad is packed full of art, one piece in the main lounge area is worth over £40,000 (not what you would expect to find by walking through a door off the alleyway in the Medina of Marrakech) .
We reconvene with the group on the terrace for drinks before heading off on a food and drink walking tour of the Medina with local guide Ali, we try savoury crepes & doughnuts at one stop followed by prickly pears, orange juice, tea and olives at other stops.
After the tour we are given some free time so I head to an outdoor terrace for mint tea – the terrace overlooks bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square so a great place from where to take photos.
We return to the Riad for drinks in the inner court yard where a local musician plays for us. Again lots of chatting followed by bed about 12, another great day in Morocco.
