Sailing from Porto Into the Heart of Wine Country

Your journey begins in Porto, a cosmopolitan Roman city famed for its Port wine, atmospheric riverside district and grand architecture. As the ship glides away from the city, the scenery transforms into rolling hills, terraced vineyards and peaceful villages unchanged for centuries.

Portugal’s once‑wild Douro River is now navigable thanks to a series of impressive locks. You will pass through five on the way upriver and five on the return, each one a fascinating feat of engineering. Watching the captain and crew guide the ship through these towering structures is a highlight in itself.

Vineyards, Medieval Towns and Timeless Scenery

Over the course of the week, you will explore:

• Historic vineyards where you can sample exceptional wines and Ports

A Day Trip to Salamanca

Your cruise also takes you across the border into Spain for a full‑day visit to Salamanca. This magnificent city is home to one of Europe’s oldest universities, two spectacular cathedrals and what many consider the finest city square in Spain. Its honey‑coloured sandstone buildings glow in the sunlight, creating a magical atmosphere as you explore.

Life On Board the Riviera Rose

MS Riviera Rose is a state‑of‑the‑art ship crafted with comfort, style and sustainability in mind. Spread across four decks, the ship offers:

Due to the low bridges along the Douro, the restaurant is lowered during certain navigations, so guests are encouraged to speak with the Cruise Director to reserve lunch or dinner times on those days.
