Is this really the perfect two centre holiday option?

"We need a break, we need something perfect" That was the conversation I had with my husband back in September last year. Having waited twelve months for a break it needed to be a bit special and it needed to offer something for both of us to really look forward to and enjoy to the max. With no children to consider for this trip we wanted far-away, winter sun, rest but then we also wanted some fun in the sun. Not much as a starting point really. Ten years ago we visited The Seychelles. It had been a lovely trip but the weather was against us and we always vowed to go back to see these amazing islands at their very best (they also look beautiful in the rain but you don't get to make the most of a beach in the warm wet rain!) And so it was decided, The Seychelles first for a week and then eight nights in one of my favourite places - Dubai. Could this just be our perfect two centre? (Mauritius and Dubai the year before was perfect in Mauritius but the building work affecting our choice of hotel in Dubai had very slightly taken the edge of that part of our trip). Waving an enthusiastic goodbye to Gatwick, drizzling as we boarded, we settle down for our 7.5 hour flight to Dubai with a 4 hour onward connection to the Seychelles. The journey was efficient and as comfortable as any overnight flight can be. As we landed into the Seychelles it was tipping down. The airport in the Seychelles is so "sweet". The international arrival lounge an intimate affair - just a small arrivals hall, one baggage belt and a tiny duty free. We were through in less than 30 minutes and then our renewed Seychelles experience started in earnest. The Seychelles is one of the most beautiful places on earth and with the global changes to temperature the islands are under threat - you need to go soon to not only show your support but to experience what paradise really looks and feel likes. The hotel's setting is amazing and we loved the speciality restaurants where the teams couldn't do enough to deliver a magical holiday experience. Our guest suite was spacious and traditional with a huge bathroom and wardrobe space, which was enviable. Our lives for the next seven days were dominated by the beaches - there are two of the best beaches in the world at this resort - white sand, clear blue waters and tropical fish aplenty, pool life and a bit of wildlife thrown in for good measure. We ate, relaxed, drank and a little, ate again, relaxed and repeated. The weather for the rest of the trip was amazing..... we loved having time to talk, relax and marvel at just how beautiful parts of our world our. We left early in the morning a week later. It's always hard to leave paradise but we left knowing that our room wouldn't be empty for long and another lucky couple would get to experience a world far removed from the hullabaloo of normal life. Our arrival in Dubai is a familiar experience for us. I have visited on multiple occasions and have always loved this place despite its grandeur and constant state of development it always feels a little like coming home. This trip we were off to The Palm for a stay at The Waldorf Astoria. As we travelled out to The Palm we noted the familiar sites with warm recollections of previous visits - The Indian Restaurant, our stays at Jumeirah, The Souks and the Dubai Metro - London Transport take note this service operates to a timetable, which works and it's clean and it's the most amazing value for money. Our arrival at The Waldorf was genuinely warm and welcoming. Whisked straight to the Club Lounge (accessible to Club Guests who enjoy multiple benefits including a "happy hour" for two hours daily) check-in was so smooth you almost missed it. The rooms are cool, spacious and luxurious. We loved The Waldorf Astoria . Forget all the amazing facilities, the fantastic (and I mean fantastic food - the breakfast buffets were the best I have ever experienced) what made this visit so special was the great people so keen to deliver a magical holiday experience. Nothing was too much trouble. Watch out for the price of wine at dinner (which, thanks to the exchange rate) was high - apart from that this was the perfect Dubai experience. We loved The Waldorf and we will go back soon........
