Christmas in the Canaries - Playa Blanca Lanzarote

On the 20th of December 2025, we travelled as a family on our first ever Christmas holiday away, to Playa Blanca – our favourite resort in Lanzarote

We have travelled to Lanzarote seven times previously and this is our fifth stay in the resort of Playa Blanca in the South of the island

We travelled with our friends who are a blended family, so between us there were for adults and six teenagers between the ages of 13- 19 years old!

We stayed at the gorgeous 4* Cordial Marina Blanca apartments, which are located overlooking the Rubicon Marina area, these are lovely apartments, with studios, one and two bedroom apartments. The complex had a breakfast room (you can pre-pay on a B&B basis) or add this on on arrival to your self-catering apartment. There’s also a pool bar/snack bar restaurant open in the winter months from 12 noon to 5pm too.

The accommodation had a lovely spacious pool area with a heated pool (although not warm enough for me to brave) a games room, a gym, access to book spa treatments, like massages and acupuncture for extra fees

The best thing about the accommodation was it’s proximity to walk out within five minutes to the Rubicon Marina area, this is a fabulous marina with an abundance of decent restaurants, plus shops and bars and two supermarkets within walking distance too, plus great water-front views from bars and snacks bars, to sit and watch the world go by or for sundowners

We enjoyed some fabulous meals at Casa Roja, Casa Carlos, Le Petit Jardin, Utopia (further into Playa Blanca centre) Jungle Vibes and many more, there’s also a great Lani’s snack bar/bar with waterfront views and more budget led food options.

Our nearest beach was Playa Dorada around 1,300 metres from our hotel

Ones of the best things about the resort of Playa Blanca is the fact that the promenade stretches right from the Papagayo beaches area to the other end of the resort, making the resort around circa 8+ Kilometres end to end, so its’ great for a leisurely walk or to even walk parts of the promenade path and a keen route with runners too

On our previous stays in this resort and other we have hired a car and visited resorts and locations around the island, but this time it was more about having a rest over the busy Christmas period and grabbing some well needed winter sunshine too, as well as spending quality time with our friends

I would not hesitate to recommend Lanzarote and Playa Blanca in particular as a resort, as well as the location of the Cordial Marina Blanca apartments as a great place to stay too

I have no doubt we will be back to Lanzarote for a future holiday in the coming years!
