Marrakech - Perfect winter break

Marrakech - Perfect winter break

I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of November, and the first thing that impressed me was the weather. It averaged 23’c over the 4 days, and although it does get chilly in the evening and first thing in the morning, by 11 am, it was perfect for catching some sun around the pools. The locals say that the temperature is around 20-24’c°C throughout our winter to perfect for some winter sun along with a chance to visit the city.

They have 3 pools, which are all heated, 1 for adults only with a self-serve bar, 1 larger main pool and a kids pool next to the kids club with a few slides and water features. The hotel was 70-80% full, and there were never any issues with sun bed availability, with no one coming down at silly o’clock to reserve them.

The rooms are spread over 2 buildings and consist of 318 in total, inc 4 family rooms, 4 suites and 2 adapted rooms. They also have interconnecting rooms, perfect for larger families.

This is a family fun property so have lots of extra activities to keep you entertained including Darts, Archery, Pétanque, cookery lessons/demonstrations, tennis (reservations required), badminton, golf lessons, volleyball, football, yoga, Zumba, aqua gym, Moroccans dancing, table tennis, trapeze, basketball, spin classes, kids clubs from 4 to 12 with loads of activities throughout the day for them too. All equipment is included with no charge.

There is a golf desk where you can book to play at one of the 15 golf courses in Marrakech. All are public, so no handicap is required, which is a bonus. Clubs can be rented from the hotel, too, if you don’t want to take your own.

They have a show every night with various themes, and the entertainment team work hard to ensure everyone has a great time.

There is 1 main buffet restaurant and 1 a la carte restaurant, which you get to visit once per stay for free and gives you a taste of traditional Moroccan cuisine. The buffet was very extensive for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and I found the quality of the food to a great standard.

There is also a food truck by the pool, which opens for lunch, serving beignets and hot chicken baguettes with fries and also again for snacks later in the afternoon, for waffles, pancakes, doughnuts and cheese and ham baguettes, so you will never go hungry.

The main pool bar is open until 6 and has waiter service around the pool, so you don’t even need to get up from your sun-lounger for a drink.

The only little issue I had was the choice of drinks at the bar…it is an all-inclusive only resort, but you only get the local brands of alcohol, which are not as strong as what you get in the UK. They have wine, beer and soft drinks, and a selection of cocktails, also if you prefer these. Any other brands of alcohol or specialist cocktails will be charged as an extra.

They provide a free shuttle bus into Marrakech Medina, which can be booked at reception, and it is highly recommended to take a walk around the Souks, Palace and Gardens to experience all the city has to offer…just remember to haggle…it is suggested to start at 60% less than the asking price and go from there.

I’d also recommend going out in the evening to experience the food stalls and night markets.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and can recommend it for a short break away for some winter sun/city break.
