🌴 Antigua: A Caribbean Dream of Beaches, Sunshine & Adventure

Just… wow. Antigua truly is the definition of a dream destination. From lush rainforests and soft white sands to vibrant coral reefs and panoramic hilltop views, this Caribbean gem delivers on every level. I had the chance to explore the island with Designer Travel and Inspiring Travel and it’s safe to say, Antigua exceeded every expectation.

🏝 Two Stunning Resorts: Blue Waters & Carlisle Bay

We were lucky enough to stay in two luxurious resorts, each offering a completely different vibe and setting, giving us a real sense of what Antigua has to offer.
• Blue Waters Resort & Spa: Nestled on the island’s northwestern coast, this resort is effortlessly elegant. Think manicured gardens, peaceful coves, and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. It’s ideal for couples or anyone looking for that classic Caribbean tranquillity.
• Carlisle Bay: Located on the southern coast, this hotel offers a more contemporary, design-led experience with an incredible beachfront setting, lush rainforest backdrop, and exceptional service. Perfect for laid-back luxury with a stylish twist.

🚤 Exploring by Sea – Snorkelling, Sunsets & Sea Life

One of the absolute highlights of this trip was seeing Antigua from the water. We took two boat trips, both completely different but equally memorable:
• A half-day snorkelling trip over to Bird Island, where we swam in clear turquoise water and even spotted stingrays and turtles along the way. There’s nothing like floating above colourful coral with the sun on your back and a drink in hand.
• A sunset cruise, where we sailed along the coast as the sky turned gold and pink. It was one of those moments where time stands still, especially when a little turtle popped its head up for air right beside the boat 🐢

Most hotels offer these experiences as excursions, with both full and half-day options available. Trust me, they’re absolutely worth it.

🌄 Exploring Antigua by Land – Iconic Views & Hidden Gems

To really get a feel for the island, we joined a Jeep safari tour and what an adventure! We covered so much of Antigua’s rugged interior, stopping at some of its most iconic landmarks:
• Shirley Heights – Known for its legendary Sunday sunset parties, the views from here are jaw-dropping any time of day.
• Blockhouse & Nelson’s Dockyard – Both packed with history and incredible vantage points over English Harbour.
• Devil’s Bridge – A dramatic natural rock formation shaped by the crashing Atlantic waves. It’s a powerful sight and a reminder of the island’s untamed side.

If you want to really connect with Antigua beyond the beach, this kind of tour is a must, fun, informative, and full of breathtaking scenery.

🌳 Ziplining Through the Rainforest – A Thrill to Remember

Without a doubt, ziplining through the rainforest was one of the most exhilarating experiences of the entire trip and easily one of the best things I’ve ever done on holiday. The Antigua Rainforest Zipline Tour is suitable for beginners and thrill-seekers alike, and flying through the treetops with the warm breeze on your face is something you’ll never forget. If you’re visiting the island, add this straight to your itinerary, no hesitation needed.

🍽️ Food, Fun & Unforgettable Memories

From grilled seafood to Caribbean curries, the food on this trip did not disappoint, especially when paired with rum punch and great company. Between the excursions and downtime on the beach, we laughed a lot, ate even more, and made memories I’ll never forget.

There’s something particularly magical about escaping the cold and soaking up the Caribbean sunshine in the middle of winter. Antigua offers that unbeatable combination of warm hospitality, tropical beauty, and laid-back vibes that make you want to stay forever.
