A Day at Daios Cove: Beautiful Views, Private Pools and Plenty to Explore
During our trip to Crete, I spent a day at Daios Cove with a day pass and a tour that gave me the chance to explore the resort and look inside some of its rooms, suites and villas.
My first reaction was “wow”, and the setting had a lot to do with that. The resort sits on the hillside around its own private cove, with buildings stepping down towards the beach and beautiful views across the water. Everywhere I looked, the sea seemed to be part of the picture.
What struck me was how well the resort fits into its surroundings. The stone, natural colours and contemporary interiors work beautifully against the rocky hillside and blue water. It feels stylish and carefully thought through, but still relaxed.
Although there’s plenty here, the cove gives the whole place a sense of being tucked away. I could easily picture settling into a lounger and losing track of the afternoon.
The service was another highlight of my visit. It felt attentive and welcoming, which makes such a difference to the atmosphere of a hotel. Beautiful surroundings are lovely, but it’s the people looking after you who help you feel comfortable and able to relax, and most are local to the area.a
During my tour, I saw some gorgeous rooms, suites and villas. The interiors had the same understated style as the rest of the resort, with natural materials and a real focus on the views.
There’s a good choice depending on how much space and privacy you want. Some rooms have their own pools, while the larger suites and villas offer more room for families or people travelling together.
The private pool options were particularly lovely. I could see the appeal of having your own outdoor space for a quiet swim or some time together, while still being able to enjoy everything else around the resort.
The food and drink offering was one of the things that impressed me most. There’s a real focus on quality, and the different restaurants give you a choice of atmosphere as well as food.
You can expect Greek and Cretan flavours, seasonal Mediterranean dishes and more contemporary dining, with settings ranging from the beach to terraces overlooking the cove. It’s easy to imagine a leisurely lunch becoming a highlight of the day, followed later by cocktails and dinner somewhere different.
The bars feel just as much a part of the experience, with beautifully presented cocktails and lovely places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. If food is something you look forward to on holiday, there’s plenty here to keep you interested.
I also learned more about the Residents’ Club package for eligible suite and villa stays. This includes dining, selected drinks, minibar options and 24-hour room service, giving guests the option of enjoying a meal in the privacy of their own accommodation too.
The private beach and pools are an obvious draw, but the spa and fitness facilities stood out too. The KĒPOS wellness centre is extensive, with treatment rooms, pools and thermal facilities, alongside the BXR Gym and a Mind & Body Studio. There’s much more to it than a small hotel spa tucked away in a corner. KĒPOS wellness
For families, there’s a kids’ club, crèche and games room. What I liked was that the resort felt relaxed and grown-up while still having facilities for children. I could picture couples and families enjoying quite different holidays here, each finding their own favourite places. Family facilities
Daios Cove is only around 10 minutes by car from Agios Nikolaos, so heading out for a wander, shopping or an evening in town is easy enough. You have that secluded coastal setting without being far from somewhere to explore. Location information
Although, having spent the day looking around, I can understand why you might not want to leave very often!
I visited for the day rather than staying overnight, but it gave me a real feel for the resort. The beautiful cove was my first impression; the welcoming service, accommodation and food offerings were what stayed with me afterwards.
