A Short Break in Daios Cove, Crete: Food, Service & Relaxed Luxury
A Short Break in Daios Cove, Crete: Food, Service & Relaxed Luxury
If you’re searching for a luxury escape in Crete that blends faultless service, exceptional food, and a relaxed but upscale vibe, Daios Cove should be at the top of your list. This five‑star resort, carved into a private cove near Agios Nikolaos, delivers the kind of effortless Mediterranean luxury that keeps guests returning year after year.
Whether you’re planning a couples’ getaway, a family holiday, or a multi‑generational trip, Daios Cove offers a rare mix of tranquillity, style and world‑class hospitality.
✈️ Travel: Getting to Daios Cove
We flew British Airways from London Heathrow to Heraklion, a smooth and straightforward journey. From the airport, we opted for an Uber, though the transfer took slightly longer than usual due to ongoing roadworks for a new coastal route.
If you prefer flexibility, car hire is an excellent option. The rental companies are located right next to the airport, and Daios Cove has a large on‑site car park. Hiring a car makes it easy to explore nearby highlights such as Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, and the surrounding beaches and villages.
🛏️ Stay: Junior Suite Sea View with Residents Club
We stayed in a Junior Suite Sea View with Residents Club, Daios Cove’s premium all‑inclusive concept. While Bed & Breakfast and Half Board are available, the AI package is genuinely worth it — dining and drinking across the resort can add up quickly, and Residents Club includes à la carte meals, premium drinks, room service, and minibar refills.
The suite itself was spacious and beautifully designed in warm neutral tones. Expect:
- Separate bath, shower and toilet
- Plenty of storage
- A large balcony with a table, chairs and a comfortable outdoor sofa
- Uninterrupted views over the cove
- Other Room Categories at Daios Cove
Deluxe Rooms
- Sea View
- Sea View with Individual Pool

- Daios Mansion: 3 bedrooms, 3 storeys, indoor & outdoor pools, and reserved beachfront loungers in the adults‑only zone
🍽️ Food & Drink: A Standout Feature
The food at Daios Cove is, quite simply, exceptional. Every meal had us saying, “Oh my god, that’s amazing.” The resort focuses heavily on locally sourced ingredients, with menus that blend Greek flavours with Asian fusion — an unexpected combination that works beautifully.
Breakfast at Pangea
- More “produce showcase” than buffet, with standout features like:
- Fresh ‘help yourself honeycomb
- Adults‑only and family dining zones
- Calm, spacious layout
- Pangea also hosts the dinner buffet for HB and AI guests.
Lunch & Dinner Options
- Beach House – dine in or order to your sunbeds
- Ocean Bar/Restaurant – poolside dining and cocktails
- Rho – refined à la carte
- Taverna – elevated Greek classics
All restaurants offer indoor, covered and outdoor seating with panoramic sea views.

- Unlimited champagne
- Premium wines & beers
- Cocktails curated by The Clumsies, one of the world’s top bars
- Room service at any time
- One‑touch minibar refills
- The Crystal Box is the main cocktail bar, but drink service is available throughout the resort.
🌊 Pool & Beach: Calm Waters & Panoramic Views

Daios Cove is built into the hillside, so getting around is part of the experience:
- Glass funiculars glide down the cliffside with stunning views
