Grecotel LUXME Creta Palace Review: One of the Best Luxury Family Hotels in Crete

As a travel professional, I stay in a lot of hotels every year. In fact, I rarely return to the same property twice because there is such a big world out there to explore. However, after my recent stay at 5* Grecotel LUXME Creta Palace in Crete, I can confidently say this is one hotel I would happily return to.

From the moment I arrived, everything about the experience felt effortless. Located on a beautiful beachfront just outside Rethymnon, Grecotel Creta Palace combines five-star luxury, authentic Cretan hospitality and outstanding facilities for both couples and families.

Stylish Accommodation with Thoughtful Touches

The hotel‘s design immediately creates a sense of calm. The contemporary interiors are inspired by the sea, with soft blue tones, elegant furnishings and immaculate gardens throughout the resort.

I stayed in a partial sea view room with a balcony, which was beautifully maintained by the excellent housekeeping team. The cream marble bathroom felt luxurious, the fluffy dressing gowns were a lovely touch and, something many hotels overlook, there was plenty of wardrobe and hanging space.

Turndown service each evening added an extra level of luxury, and every member of staff I encountered was genuinely warm, friendly and eager to help.

Exceptional Dining at Grecotel Creta Palace

Food is often one of the highlights of any holiday, and Grecotel Creta Palace exceeded all expectations.

Breakfast was exceptional. The variety was impressive, with plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available, alongside plant-based milk alternatives for coffees and cereals.

There was an abundance of fresh produce, pastries, fruits and local specialities. And while cheesecake isn‘t something I'd normally consider for breakfast, I made an exception here – and I'm so glad I did. It was genuinely one of the best cheesecakes I've ever tasted.

The hotel offers six restaurants ( 1 buffet and 5 à la carte) and six bars, providing plenty of choice throughout your stay. Whether you're looking for relaxed beachfront dining or something a little more special in the evening, there's an option to suit every mood.

Beautiful Pools, Beach and Relaxation

One of the things I loved most about Grecotel Creta Palace was the relaxed atmosphere. Despite offering extensive facilities, the resort never felt crowded.

The pool areas were immaculate, with attentive service and comfortable sun loungers. I particularly loved the QR code ordering system, allowing drinks and snacks to be delivered directly to your sunbed without interrupting your day.

The beach is equally impressive, with plenty of loungers available and stunning views across the Mediterranean Sea. Whether you prefer poolside relaxation or beach days, you'll be very happy here.

Perfect for Families and Couples

One of the reasons Grecotel Creta Palace appeals to such a wide range of guests is its ability to cater brilliantly for both families and couples.

Families are exceptionally well looked after, with a dedicated kids' club and an exciting new waterpark opening in July. I also noticed thoughtful touches such as family-friendly breakfast seating areas, making mornings easier for parents travelling with young children.

At the same time, couples can enjoy the peaceful gardens, beachfront setting and relaxed luxury that make the resort feel sophisticated and special.

A Taste of Authentic Crete

What really sets Grecotel Creta Palace apart is its connection to local culture and food.

The charming village square recreation within the resort is beautiful, complete with boutiques and a traditional church that creates a wonderful sense of place.

I was also fortunate enough to visit Agreco Farm, Grecotel's traditional farm experience, and it was one of the highlights of my trip. Seeing where ingredients are grown and learning about the passion behind the food and hospitality gave me a much deeper appreciation of the Grecotel philosophy.

The commitment to sustainability and locally sourced produce is evident throughout the resort, and it genuinely enhances the guest experience.

Excellent Location Near Rethymnon

The location is another major advantage. Situated on a peaceful stretch of beach, the hotel offers the perfect balance between relaxation and exploration.

The beautiful town of Rethymnon, with its Venetian Harbour, charming old town, cafés, restaurants and bars, is just a short drive away and well worth visiting during your stay.

For those celebrating a special occasion, Grecotel Creta Palace also offers wedding facilities. Having seen the setting firsthand, I can honestly say it would be an absolutely stunning place to get married.

Would I Recommend Grecotel Creta Palace?

Without hesitation, yes.

Luxury hotels often excel in one or two areas, but Grecotel LUXME Creta Palace delivers across the board. Beautiful accommodation, outstanding food, exceptional service, fantastic family facilities, a stunning beachfront location and genuine Cretan hospitality combine to create something truly special.
