Zante Summer Girls Trip!

Zante Summer Girls Trip!

On the 6th of July 2023, I travelled to Zante with my 16-year-old daughter (for a little post GCSE trip) my 17-year-old niece and my sister-in-law.

We had a fabulous girls week planned staying in the lovely resort of Alykanas.

It has been some 34 years since I‘d been to Zante as an 18-year-old woman and I was looking forward to going back.

We stayed at the 4* Alykanas Beach resort; this is a fabulous little resort around a 35-minute transfer from Zante airport.

The resort itself consists of a main road which is adorned either side by restaurants, bars, shops, and tavernas It's a resort that is popular with families, couples and small groups of friends that aren't wanting the crazy nightlife in Laganas which is the main resort on the island for young part goers!

Our rooms were spacious sleeping up to 4 in each room and there were 4 of us total, we paid for slightly larger rooms with more space and were allocated rooms 401 and 402 on the ground floor and by the side of the pool although the balconies were separated by walls so you had to walk round.

During the day we had plenty of pool time with a range of pools - with a main complex pool, a beachfront pool, a pool with small splash park for children age 12 and under, so plenty of choice and space. Although some people were up early with towels, we always managed to get sunbeds with the added option of paying a small fee on the beach for a sunbed there with shade too.

There was a pretty decent on-site snack bar offering drinks and food between 10am and 6pm ish too, as well as the main restaurant where we took breakfast each morning.

We have some fabulous meals out at local taverna's with Greek Meze's dishes x 11, half a carafe of wine, plus water for just 52 Euro's approx. £44 - Just £11 per head.

The service, quality of food, value for money and hospitality in the restaurants was second to none.

As a resort Alykanas is pretty much linked to its smaller and quieter counterpart resort of Alikes a little along the coast, we had a walk to Alykanas one day, there are some stunning bars and taverna's on the front along a little wooden beach/boardwalk.

In the evening you can walk, take a taxi or better still take a horse drawn carriage (Caleche) ride into Alikes for a change of scenery.

We took a fabulous round the island cruise from Alykanas, where we were waved off by Caretta Turtles in the bay of Alykanas, we visited Navaggio Beach (shipwreck) please bear in mind you are no longer allowed to dock on this beach, the Blue Caves, we had some stunning swim stops, plus a sail past Cameo Island and ore Caretta turtle watching in the bay of Lagana's too and a visit to Marathonsi (Turtle Island) too.

This is definitely a resort tat I would love to return too as a couple or a family, with its beautiful sandy beaches and stunning clear Blue water, what's not to like!
