A Relaxed Escape to Zante: Early‑Season Sunshine

A Relaxed Escape to Zante: Early‑Season Sunshine

There’s something special about the moment a holiday truly begins, that shift from everyday life to anticipation, excitement and the promise of sunshine. For us, it started the moment we arrived at Manchester Airport. Meet and Greet parking made everything wonderfully simple, and the day‑before baggage drop meant we could ease into the trip without any rush. A delicious meal at the Radisson Blu set the tone perfectly before an early night and an even earlier start.

By morning, we were officially on our way.

Touchdown in Zante

Arriving in Zante felt like stepping straight into summer. Warm air, bright skies and that unmistakable holiday feeling, Greece has, at the time of our trip, suspended EES operations. At the same time, that sped things up, passport control was very slow both entering and exiting the country. It wasn‘t a problem, just be prepared. Our base for the trip was the beautiful Cavo Vezal Deluxe Hotel, and first impressions were outstanding. Modern, calm, elegant and wonderfully welcoming.

The hotel has a serene, adults‑focused atmosphere that makes it ideal for unwinding. Think stylish pools, spacious rooms and staff who genuinely care about making your stay special. Whether you choose a swim‑up room, a private‑pool terrace or a balcony suite, everything feels thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation.

Settling In: Pool Days and Peaceful Mornings

Our first day was blissfully gentle. After breakfast, the hotel’s general manager gave us a personal tour, a lovely touch that made the place feel even more welcoming. Lunch, sunshine and a dip in the pool outside our swim‑up room filled the afternoon. Early May is wonderfully calm on the island, warm enough for sunbathing and quiet enough to feel like you’ve discovered a secret.

A Visit to The Little Farm

The Little Farm, just a 10 to 15 minute stroll from the hotel, is a charming spot filled with friendly animals who are more than happy to wander over and say hello. Families love it, but honestly, it’s delightful for anyone who enjoys animals and a slower pace. There are shaded areas to sit, beautiful views from the upper level and even homemade olive oil and ice cream.

Exploring Cameo Island

Another morning took us to Cameo Island, a tiny private island reached by a wooden footbridge that looks like it was made for holiday photos. Once across, you’ll find peaceful corners, a sheltered cove and a couple of relaxed bars, the perfect place to pause, sip a drink and take in the scenery. It’s a small island with a great sense of charm. I‘d recommend arriving early, as it can get busy later in the day.

Evenings at Cavo Vezal

Evenings at the hotel were a highlight. The buffet restaurant served excellent food throughout our stay, and our à la carte dinner was a wonderful way to round off the holiday. Shared Greek salad, arancini, osso buco, octopus, steak and a trio of indulgent desserts, each dish beautifully presented and full of flavour.

The atmosphere around the pool bar in the evenings was relaxed and friendly, the perfect backdrop to unwind after a day of exploring.

Wandering the Coast

Laganas Beach stretches for miles, shifting from lively beachfront cafés to quieter, more natural sands as you walk toward Kalamaki. Early in the season, the coastline feels peaceful and unhurried, ideal for long strolls, sea views and soaking up the warm Greek sunshine.

Final Thoughts

Visiting Zante in early May was a reminder of how magical the island can be when everything is calm, warm and just beginning to wake up for the season. Cavo Vezal Deluxe Hotel made the perfect base. Modern, spotless, beautifully designed and wonderfully serene.

If you’re looking for a holiday that blends comfort, sunshine and gentle adventure, Zante is a gorgeous choice, and this little corner near Laganas offers the perfect mix of relaxation and discovery.
