Discovering the Magic of Finland in Winter

There are some destinations that exceed expectations, and Finland in winter is certainly one of them, so much so that we had to return again!

When people hear Finland, many immediately think of Santa Claus and Lapland. While those experiences are undoubtedly magical, there‘s so much more to discover.

Earlier this year I enjoyed an unforgettable family adventure that showcased exactly why Finland has become one of Europe‘s most sought-after winter destinations.

From the moment we arrived, the landscape felt like something from a storybook....

Snow-covered forests stretched as far as the eye could see, frozen lakes sparkled in the winter sunlight, and the crisp Arctic air provided a refreshing change from everyday life.

One of the biggest highlights was snowmobiling through the wilderness, and the incredible Northern Lights show - so beautiful and mesmerising!

Travelling through pristine snow-covered scenery, surrounded by nature and complete tranquillity, was an experience that none of us will forget in a hurry.

What surprises me most is how suitable Finland is for multi-generational family travel....Whether you're travelling with younger children, teenagers, grandparents or a mixture of all ages, some activities appeal to everyone. Snowmobiling, sledging, husky adventures, reindeer experiences and Northern Lights excursions create memories that families talk about for years afterwards.

Despite the dramatic winter conditions, travelling around was straightforward, accommodation was warm and welcoming, and everything felt incredibly well organised, just as before.

There's something special about disconnecting from everyday life and embracing a simpler pace surrounded by nature.

For families looking for an alternative to a traditional winter sun holiday, Finland offers something entirely different. Instead of beaches and pools, it's about experiences. It's about sharing adventures and creating unforgettable memories.
