The town has been historically preserved since the war of 1812 and it is really is one of the most beautiful towns to explore.  There's an array of antique shops, boutiques and restaurants that you really can lose all track of time in. But there's also another way to lose track of time and that's at one the many wineries in the region.  In 2011 Niagara-on-the-Lake was voted No.1 Food & Wine destination in Canada by Trip Advisor's Travellers Choice. Playing host to 27 wineries you can tailor make your own itinery tour, or if like me you want to make sure you sample the best wines that Canada has to offer then choose one the escorted wine tours.  The tasting rooms offer a relaxed environment and the staff are really friendly and you get to sample wines ranging from special reserves to new releases. Depending on what type of tour you have booked, your guide may drive you to the smallest chapel in the world!  You might think that all that wine has gone to your head and effected your eyesight but this chapel has to be seen to be believed. The Living Water Wayside Chapel, according to the Niagara Day Tour website was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as holder of the world's smallest chapel! The chapel is said to measure around 10ft x 10ft and seats only six people inside (you can even get married there). So even if you don't need to sit down after all the wine tasting, you might just want to sit there for a while and rest as was the original purpose of the chapel and take in the fact that you are in one of the most remarkable and amazing places you are ever likely to visit!
