Cyprus: A Stay to Remember
On arrival, we had a prompt transfer to the hotel and were greeted with a wonderful welcome — Champagne and canapés at check-in set the tone for the stay ahead.
We stayed in One Bedroom Suites, which were incredibly spacious — easily suitable for wheelchair users too. Balconies offered great views, and the bathrooms didn’t disappoint, with full-sized baths and large walk-in showers. Mini bars were stocked and refilled daily with soft drinks and snacks — a lovely touch.
The location is unbeatable: right on the beachfront and directly on the scenic coastal path into Paphos, which is just a short walk away.
The service throughout our stay was absolutely impeccable. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the pools were pristine. The à la carte Pool Restaurant served up some amazing food — the steak in particular was outstanding.
Sunbeds were a little luxury in themselves, complete with waiter service for drinks — a real treat! The spa offered daily specials at great prices, and many of us took advantage. The treatments were highly recommended.
We also had dinner at the Estia Restaurant, which featured a full buffet and live cooking stations — always a great selection, and the seafood was fantastic.
Over the next few days, we took time to visit the sister hotels, just a few minutes’ walk along the coastal path. We also had some time to explore — with excursions to the old town and up into wine country. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and the locals were so friendly and welcoming. These cultural tours are such an important part of the experience — giving a real taste of local history and life.
The Athena Beach Hotel, a 4-star plus property, was very family-friendly, with excellent food options and different board types available. I had a lovely chat with the wedding co-ordinator for the group, who was full of great information and always available when needed. The hotel also offers adult-only areas and Elite Class upgrades for those wanting a little more exclusivity.
One thing they were really promoting across the group was golf packages, which seem popular with guests. We had lunch there — the same menu as their wedding BBQ lunch — and let me tell you, it was amazing.
Next, we visited the Athena Royal, the group’s adults-only hotel. A highlight here was gin tasting on the rooftop Elite bar — yes, please! Again, the pools, the service, and the rooms were all fabulous — spotless and well-maintained.
One thing I hadn’t expected was the resort’s focus on bowls. Across the group, they’ve created incredible facilities — 18 full-size outdoor rinks and 12 indoor short mat rinks. They even host European championships here. All the arrangements for games or tournaments can be handled with just a quick call or email.
