A beginners guide to Ibiza

A beginners guide to Ibiza

I have recently returned from a trip to Ibiza and, having never been before, I was not sure what to expect...but I was pleasantly surprised. I found that Ibiza is not just about having one crazy, week-long party! I stayed in Ibiza Town, right opposite the beautiful port and spent most mornings relaxing and eating breakfast whilst admiring the huge super yachts and boats in the harbour, before heading off to wander around the shops by the port, or into the Old Town. Cross over the drawbridge to Dalt Vila inside the old town walls and there are lots of cute little shops, bars and restaurants along narrow cobbled streets. At night Ibiza Town really comes to life! There are night markets dotted around selling pretty little items of jewellery, beaded handbags, souvenirs and countless restaurants and bars spilling out onto the pavements. From Ibiza Town you are just a short taxi ride away from the huge Super Clubs of Ibiza such as DC10, Pasha, Amnesia and Ushuaia. One club that I will definitely be visiting myself in the future is LIO in Ibiza Town. This is a renowned club, restaurant and cabaret with amazing views over the water. You need to book well in advance for this one to avoid disappointment. I found that the best way to get around Ibiza is by boat. You can catch the sea bus from Ibiza town to the beach resorts of Playa Den Bossa, Figueretas and Talamanca and it costs as little as 3 Euros. Figueretas lies between Ibiza Town and Playa Den Bossa. There is a long promenade with sandy beaches, and a great choice of restaurants and lots of water sports available. Hire a sunbed on the beach for the day and you can take your pick from the many little restaurants to grab an ice cream or maybe a cocktail or two. The hotel that really stood out to me along the beachfront in Figueretas is the One Ibiza Suites. These modern suites are spacious and can accommodate up to 5 people. Some enjoy stunning sea views, whereas others over look the large pool. There is a rooftop terrace with pool, sun loungers and Bali beds where you can relax and grab a cocktail, and an excellent Mediterranean restaurant called Essence on the ground floor. Talamanca is another beach resort just along the coast from Ibiza Town. Here you will find the Talamanca beach club. I spent a long day relaxing here, whilst ordering a few drinks and a pizza to be delivered straight to my sun bed! This could be a great place to unwind, the morning after a big night out. Playa Den Bossa is a very lively beach resort. Walking along the beach here I came across an endless array of bars and hotels full of rowdy party goers having the time of their lives. If you are looking for a lively holiday with a group of friends or maybe a Hen or Stag party, the Ushaia Ibiza Beach Hotel could be the place for you. There are pool parties during the day and a beach club in front of the Hotel. The party carries on well into the night at the Ushuaia night club. Ushuaia Ibiza Ushuaia Ibiza If you are in Ibiza to party but do not want to be right in the middle of the madness the whole time, the Ibiza Sun Apartments is a great 4* aparthotel that is just out of the way enough for you to get a bit of peace and relaxation before and after a night out In Playa den Bossa. Other hotels that I would recommend if you are thinking about visiting Ibiza are: Me Ibiza in Santa Eulalia: This is a stunning 5 Star resort in a secluded bay and offers spectacular views from the rooftop Spa. The rooms are spacious and modern. Choose from two excellent restaurants or head into Santa Eulalia for a huge choice of shops restaurants and bars. From here you can spend the day at neighbouring Nikki Beach for the famous beach parties. Me Ibiza - Rooftop Pool Me Ibiza - Rooftop Pool Sol House Ibiza Here you are right in the middle of the party in San Antonio! Expect pool parties by day and dancing overlooking the famous Ibiza sunsets by night. Guests at this hotel receive free tickets to the world famous live concerts at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, headlined by global DJs and artists. Migjorn Ibiza Suites & Spa, Playa den Bossa This hotel offers a little bit of luxury and relaxation, just a short walk from the infamous night life spots of Playa den Bossa.
