New York stay and Cruise

This was a fantastic trip we did a couple of years ago to celebrate a special wedding anniversary....first the hustle and bustle of New York followed by a weeks relaxation cruising Canada and New England. I love the vibrancy of New York and our hotel on 42nd St was well placed to explore all it has to offer. We wanted to walk as much as possible but as it was very hot, we quickly decided maybe the subway was a better idea! There is so much to see and do and most people are only in NY for a few days so you really do need to plan your vist carefully to get the most out of it. Then came the time to board Caribbean Princess for our 7 night cruise and we were really looking forward to it. Cruising out of New York with the famous Manhattan skyline behind you is a very special sight and we were soon on our way to Halifax, Nova Scotia. We chose 'anytime dining' so you can decide when and where to dine every night and it was so nice meeting different people at dinner and swapping tales. There are also plenty tables for 2 if you fancy a romantic evening! We really enjoy cruising as everything is there at hand.....great food, entertainment, pool and sundecks, spa, shopping......! Most of the cruising is done at night so you wake up to somewhere new to see nearly every day. You can take a tour or go off at your own pace and explore, we generally do a mixture of both. We also had a full day in St John's and Boston and spent our anniversary doing a tour of the Acadia National Park from Bar Harbor, Maine which was my favourite....a very quaint town and a beautiful area of New England. We were soon back in New York but that wasn't the end of it. My brother in law lives in New York and he wanted to show us more so we then travelled South from New York and spent some time visiting Delaware and Maryland....a great end to a splendid holiday.
