They have nicely combined old decor with modern amenities such as satellite TV and air-conditioning giving you great comfort. Guests can enjoy local specialities with an international touch at the restaurant as well as Michelin star service.  The bar serves a selection of the wines and ports produced in the nearby Douro Valley and champagne produced in-house. Other facilities of the Casa da Calcada Relais & Châteaux include a solarium and bike rental - ideal for exploring a bit further afield. The hotel is located less than one hour from both Porto and the Douro Valley. Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport is also less than one hour away and the hotel provides a private shuttle service. I was very lucky to visit this beautiful hotel last October 2015 and sampled some of the best food you will find in the area. Having personal special dietary requirements, I always find it hard to get this covered but this was not a problem. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements at the time of booking, and this will be passed on to the hotel's chef. All the staff I met were very pleasant and I was made to feel very welcome.      Casa da Calcada Relais & Chateaux is a 30 room hotel that is full of history and located in Amarante, just 35 minutes from the airport (Oporto). Amarante is a small beautiful quaint city with approximately 56.264 habitants surrounded by amazing scenery, with a lot of gastronomy, cultural and religious places to visit in Amarante there also lots to visit not to far away very close to - Oporto city (world heritage city centre) ; Barcelos (known by the handcrafted Portugal Rooster) ; Viana do Castelo (Portuguese Heart jewellery) . Situated in the centre of the main points of interest in North Portugal. It is the perfect place to be!

The kitchen serves contemporary cuisine, including a number of innovative dishes, alongside traditional Portuguese recipes. Great attention to detail, both in its preparation and presentation.
