The views (especially when sunset hits) are nothing short of stunning at this premium property in Sicily, just 10km south of historic Siracusa. Set on a rocky promontory on the beautiful Maddalena Peninsula, the oceanfront setting definitely takes centre stage here. Huge glass windows take over the three-level house, and there’s a gorgeous amount of outdoor space to really soak up those views. There’s even gated access to the sea and rocks below. Head to the elegant heated pool for an indulgently pretty panorama, and there’s lovely lawned gardens and a large deck with ample lounging and dining areas, too. It’s a serious sun-trap throughout the day, but the expansive pool deck with the cosy rattan sofas are at their best when the sundowners come out. Evenings in also don’t get much better than enjoying a glorious grilled feast of local specialities at the giant granite dining table. For any meals enjoyed al fresco in the day time, there’s a retractable awning for much-needed shade during the hot Sicilian weather.

This sleek and chic building is exquisitely furnished inside, with every modern convenience to make it a comfortable home away from home. The ground floor is lovely with a spacious open plan layout – there’s a contemporary sitting area with a large dining table, and a fully-equipped galley-style kitchen. The contemporary décor is bright and light, but doesn’t overshadow the subtle simplicity of the villa’s natural surroundings. There are four bedrooms (all en suite) scattered between the first and second floors. Head to the second floor for extra space and the best views – the master bedroom has large wardrobes and a private dressing room, while the second bedroom includes access to a private deck. The villa also has a fitness room if you can master the motivation, plus a gorgeous rooftop terrace right at the very top of the house – head here for the clearest views looking over the southernmost tip of Sicily.
