With stunning sea and sunset views from its elevated spot, the airy, arty, laid-back Marsh Mellow is positioned on a west coast ridge, close to the Royal Westmoreland Golf Course and equidistant between Holetown and Speightstown, each just 4.5km away. Distinctly Italianate in architectural design, the building is shaped like a crescent moon, hemmed by the graceful arches of a full length walkway. Its interiors, though, are totally tropical in cool and contemporary island style, with big, bright artworks highlighting crisp white décor, and understated elegance in the four air-conditioned bedrooms. But we use the word ‘interiors’ loosely here, as open-sided rooms and covered gardens blur the lines of indoor/outdoor living. The dining room is roofed but al fresco, served by a barbecue and a well-equipped breakfast kitchen. And at the centre of the semi-circle, a comfortably casual sitting room looks out to a sparkling fountain, beyond which is the infinity pool and, beyond that, the blue of the Caribbean. Guests are welcome to use the sandy beach at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel, 900m away, and the villa is within 3km of the Mullins Beach restaurant.
