Desert Dreams & Island Luxury: My Inspiring Trip to Abu Dhabi & Al Ain

I’ve just returned from a spectacular trip to the UAE for our annual travel conference, and it was truly a memorable experience! This year’s gathering took place in Abu Dhabi, a destination that perfectly blends modern luxury, cultural depth, and astonishing innovation.

From the pristine shores of Saadiyat Island to the rugged beauty of Al Ain, this trip reminded me why I love what I do.

Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island: A Luxury Escape

We stayed at the breathtaking Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort, a beachfront haven that redefines barefoot luxury. Nestled on a stretch of protected white sand and lapped by the turquoise Arabian Gulf, this serene retreat offered the perfect balance of indulgence and relaxation. Waking up to sea views and enjoying breakfast with that stunning beach in sight was just the beginning.

With exquisite dining, spacious suites, and a calming spa, it’s a dream destination for couples, wellness seekers, and anyone in need of a reset.

Adrenaline & Art: Ferrari World, F1 Track & TeamLab Phenomena

The itinerary wasn’t all sun and beach—it also had a high-octane punch!

Our first stop was Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix. Walking the track where champions race was an exhilarating experience, and it’s possible to book driving experiences here—one to add to your bucket list if you’re a motorsport fan! Right next door, Ferrari World delivered heart-racing fun. Whether you’re a car enthusiast or simply love a good rollercoaster, the rides and attractions are unparalleled. Some of my colleagues braved the world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa, and lived to tell the tale!

One of the most awe-inspiring visits was to TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, a brand-new immersive art space where science, nature, and technology come together in mind-bending digital installations. Walking through the constantly changing light, sound, and movement is indescribable—it truly has to be experienced.

Journey into Heritage: Discovering Al Ain

After the modern dazzle of Abu Dhabi, we headed inland for a complete change of pace. Al Ain, known as the "Garden City," is a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with Emirati culture and tradition.

We visited Al Ain Oasis, where we wandered through lush palm plantations irrigated by ancient falaj systems, and explored Al Jahili Fort, steeped in local history. A highlight was staying at Rotana Al Ain, a welcoming and comfortable base from which to explore this often-overlooked gem. The pace is slower here, the scenery is greener, and the cultural insights are much deeper, making it an ideal addition to a city or beach break.
