Gran Canaria - Easter Sunshine Family Holiday

Gran Canaria - Easter Sunshine Family Holiday

On 26th March 2018, we set off as a family of four, myself, my husband and our 11 and 6-year-old girls for our two weeks Easter Sunshine holiday to Gran Canaria.

Having travelled to Gran Canaria several times previously, we had opted to stay in one of our most favourite resorts of Puerto Mogan, we had previously stayed here in October 2011 at the 4*+ Cordial Mogan Playa hotel and this time we decided to go self-catering and stay at the 4* apartments next door the Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments.

We booked a one-bedroom apartment at the Cordial Mogan Valle and this was very clean bright and had a huge balcony with patio table and chairs and two sun loungers and the bonus of an outdoor shower with a lovely view over one of the smaller pools and mountains. This is a fabulous family orientated property with several pools (including an adult only one), a splash zone, pool bars, kids club, restaurants, snack bar and regular evening entertainment too.

As a resort Puerto Mogan is known as “Little Venice” due to the canals linking the marina to the fishing harbour, it’s safe to say it’s very picturesque.

The resort itself is geared to families, couples and singles who would prefer more low-key nightlife to other resorts around Gran Canaria.

There is a huge twice weekly market in this resort which means that market day is often very busy with people travelling in from other resorts.

In terms of transport there is a fabulous bus terminus with buses to resorts all around the island, plus from the harbour there are regular ferries to other resorts such as Puerto Rico too.

During our time there we took the return ferry into Puerto Rico for the day, we spent time by the pool and at the beach, we had a day at the Lago Taurito Water Park in the neighbouring resort of Playa Taurito which (road works permitting) is a short 5-10-minute bus ride away and that was a huge hit with the kids.

We did a second visit by bus this time to Puerto Rico as my brother and sister-in-law and the children were staying there and their trip overlapped a few days.

We also took the bus and had a day at Amadores Beach, which is a brilliant beach, with bars and restaurants, toilets, a taxi rank and regular bus services too, whilst we were there, there was also a huge floating activity pontoon that we paid for the children to take part in and they loved it. In addition to all the above the highlights during our stay for the girls were, the Yellow Submarine trip around the harbour at Puerto Mogan, they loved it and the award winning “Italian” ice cream parlour “Gelatomania” which many term “the best ice cream parlour in the world!”

In comparison the highlights for mum and dad were:- the fabulous restaurants and range of food throughout this resort, with many being Trip Advisor award winners, the fourteen days on none stop sunshine (yes even in March and April) and the quality time spent together as a family and equally the limited few hours that mum and dad could spend by the pool together when the girls were in kids club.

Would I return to Gran Canaria and Puerto Mogan? The answer is yes in a heartbeat!
