Discover Kefalonia with Our Family Adventure!

Discover Kefalonia with Our Family Adventure!

We recently embarked on a family trip to the stunning island of Kefalonia, and it was nothing short of beautiful!

We stayed in a gorgeous beachfront villa in Lassi, which was perfectly located not only with it being a short 10-minute drive from the airport but also convenient for exploring other towns and villages of the island.

Whilst we only stayed for a week, we certainly made the most of it, we included car hire with our package and must say it was worth doing, it did allow us to get out and about exploring at our own pace!

Here are a few highlights of our Trip:

Argostoli

Just a 10-minute drive from Lassi took us into the heart of the bustling capital of Kefalonia, where we enjoyed delightful local cuisine and explored the vibrant evening markets. We also visited late afternoon and enjoyed a coffee on the harbour watching boats and cruise liners come into port.... the perfect spotting place for cruise liner enthusiasts!

Myrtos Beach

Heading northward along the western coast of the island our journey from Lassi to Myrtos Beach took approximately 45 minutes by car.  Myrtos Beach is most famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs. This was not just a highlight of our trip, but a top attraction for its breathtaking beauty, a real must-see for all!

Assos

Our journey continued from Myrtos Beach to Assos. As we descended into Assos towards the coast, it revealed the most quaint and picturesque village nestled in a sheltered bay. The charming harbour with its colourful buildings lining the waterfront and fishing boats gently bobbing crystal clear waters. The village's main attraction is its impressive Venetian fortress, perched atop a rocky promontory overlooking the bay, offering panoramic views of the surrounding coastline and crystal-clear waters below.

Fiskardo

From Assos we continued North to the picturesque harbour village renowned for its charming Venetian architecture and vibrant waterfront. Fiskardo boasts an authentic and timeless charm. You can stroll along the colourful harbour, lined with traditional tavernas, chic boutiques, and quaint cafes, or explore the surrounding lush hillsides and hidden coves. It's so easy to see why it's been dubbed as the St Tropez of Greece and a must-visit destination for your stay or day trip.

Antisamos Beach

Our trip continued from the northern tip down the eastern coast of Kefalonia and through the town of Sami towards this picturesque beach, framed by verdant hills and pine forests. Known for its natural beauty, Antisamos features a mix of pebbles and sand, which makes an excellent spot for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling in its pristine waters. This idyllic beach also gained additional fame as a filming location for the movie "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," which showcased its stunning scenery.

So to summarise Kefalonia offers an idyllic escape with its natural beauty, rich history, and warm hospitality. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure, this island has it all. I personally can’t wait to return!
