Catalonia Majorica in Palma Majorca

I have just returned form this lovely 4* hotel. Its location is on a hill over looking Palma harbour, if you know Palma it looks straight over where the cruise ships dock. So you get some fantastic views and I recommend booking a sea view as you will see from my photo its worth every penny and  is really not a lot more than a standard view. Around the hotel are other hotels and apartments, its very quiet at night ! As I say it is on a hill, so you can take a 10 minute walk down to the Porto Pi shopping centre which has every type of shop and a vast array of restaurants, and then on the way back you can use the hotels unique funicular from the street below to get back in to the hotel and so avoids any strenuous up hill walks ! Also from the street below you can catch local buses around the island. You can walk along the harbour front into the centre of Palma , its a lovely stroll  and takes around 45 minutes. The promenade has been designed to accommodate , joggers, cyclists, walkers and you will see roller bladers along there. Or if you feel like taking it easy the reception will order a taxi which seemed to appear immediately and its less than 10 minutes by taxi approx 8 euros into town. The hotel itself has 168 rooms, ours was spotlessly clean. I wouldn't say its a luxury 4* , but quite modern. The staff really impressed me, They all "smiled" and were really helpful. We  though the waiting and bar staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and they seemed being having fun ! The hotel has an out door pool and sun terrace, great for chilling out after a day sightseeing ! It also has an indoor pool and exercise equipment. We only had breakfast, it was very comprehensive , lots of choice and fresh with chefs cooking off hot breakfasts as you ordered. It also offers free wifi and an internet corner which was handy for doing our on-line check in and printing boarding passes. To summarise you can get hotels in Palma that are a lot closer into town, but that may mean you are on the main road which is 6 lanes of traffic ! and they can be pricey. So I can recommend the Catalonia Majorica for value, service and quality.
