Beautiful Montenegro

Beautiful Montenegro

On the 25th of September 2022, I had the opportunity to take a trip to discover a new destination for me of Montenegro!

I travelled from Manchester to Tivat airport a short 2.5hrs flight and made my way with some travel colleagues to our home for the next 3 nights the fabulous 4* Iberostar Herceg Novi.

The transfer from the airport was around 45 minutes this was shorter than the anticipated one-hour transfer as we were able to take a short car ferry which reduced the route around the bay.

The Iberostar Herceg Novi hotel is situated on the edge of the Adriatic Sea with private and direct access to the sea and not far from the tourist resorts of Herceg Novi, Perast and Kotor During our short 4-day stay we were able to sample what this fabulous 4* all-inclusive hotel had to offer.

The property is suitable for couples and families, although situated on a steep incline so not suitable for the less mobile Montenegro’s “Bay of Kotor” is a spectacular Natural Environment on the edge of the Adriatic Sea, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich and valuable historical legacy owing to its Venetian influences.

We had a fabulous day out visiting Kotor, (think mini-Dubrovnik) and Perast and the Bay of Perast and the Lady of the Rocks Church In my opinion Kotor is the prettiest and best-preserved town in Montenegro, with centuries old, building’s, squares, and alleyways, with fabulous shops and dining opportunities too Perast is a tiny idyllic village on the breath-taking bay of Kotor (Boka Bay) it has a rich history, great architecture, jaw-dropping views, and romantic waterfront restaurants These areas of Montenegro offer: - boat trips around the coast or to caves and islands, lake or bay cruises, historical walking tours, hiking opportunities, white-water rafting, national park visits to name but a few.

On our return we took a different route over the border (which was flowing freely) across into Croatia and then headed to Dubrovnik airport, with a around a 45-minute transfer from our hotel, to take our flight back to Manchester.

I absolutely loved the scenery in this little well known and understated country of Montenegro, colleagues likened it to “Croatia meets the Italian lakes”

I would love to return here one day with my family for a multi-centre holiday or combining Montenegro with Croatia

In my opinion Montenegro should be on everyone’s bucket list!
