A Dreamy Villa Escape in Cyprus for families or friends

A Dreamy Villa Escape in Cyprus for families or friends

We travelled as a group of 11 friends to Cyprus to stay in Villa Polyxeni, which is located just a short distance from the vibrant Coral Bay. Villa Polyxeni is a haven of peace and comfort. The villa features seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, accommodating up to 14 guests. The bedrooms are a mix of three double rooms and four twin rooms, each designed to provide a restful retreat after a day of adventure. The open-plan living and dining area is furnished in a Scandinavian style, offering comfortable seating and a dining table that seats up to 14 people. The fully equipped kitchen includes modern appliances such as a dishwasher, washing machine, and a large fridge/freezer, catering to all your self-catering needs

It boasts a 10m x 5m private outdoor pool with Roman steps for easy access, surrounded by a spacious terrace with both covered and open areas. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining under the purpose-built pagoda area, complete with a brick-built barbecue. Additional outdoor entertainment includes a pool table and ping pong table, providing fun for all ages.

The outdoor dining area became our favourite spot for evening meals under the stars, we even had an ice cream van turn up every day to the villa which was a welcome visit to cool down in the hot sun.

Whilst we were there, we did a couple of excursions that I can highly recommend, details below

Wave Dancer BBQ Cruise.

A Maritime Delight. One of the highlights of our trip was the Wave Dancer Full Day BBQ Cruise.

Departing from Paphos Harbour, this 6-hour voyage offered a delightful mix of relaxation and entertainment. As we sailed towards the pristine waters of Coral Bay, the crew treated us to live music, engaging performances, and a sumptuous BBQ lunch featuring local delicacies. The swim stops in the crystal-clear waters were invigorating, with provided noodles and kayaks adding to the fun. The attentive staff ensured everyone had a memorable experience, making it a must-do activity when visiting the area.

Buggy Safari: An Off-Road Adventure

If you‘re looking to crank the adventure levels up a notch while exploring the rugged beauty of western Cyprus, the 5-hour Xtreme Buggy Safari from Coral Bay is exactly what you need. This wasn’t just a tour — it was an all-out off-road thrill with jaw-dropping views, dusty trails, hidden coves, and plenty of laughs.

Revving Into the Wild We kicked off our journey at Xtreme Buggy Rentals HQ in Coral Bay, where we were kitted out with safety gear and given a quick rundown of how to handle our beastly 800cc buggies. After a short briefing, helmets on and engines rumbling, we rolled out in convoy, feeling like a gang of road warriors headed for a Mediterranean adventure.

First Stop: The Epic Sea Caves Our first stop was the Sea Caves, a dramatic stretch of coastline where the cliffs and ocean collide in the most photogenic way. The views were stunning, and we had time to hop out, stretch our legs, and snap photos with the famous Edro III Shipwreck looming just offshore. The salty air and crashing waves made for an unforgettable moment — a wild contrast to the dusty trail we’d just roared down.

Turtle Bay: A Hidden Coastal Gem Next up was Turtle Bay, a serene spot that felt worlds away from the busy beach resorts. Known as a nesting ground for loggerhead turtles, the bay’s natural beauty was undeniable. We took a break here to cool down and soak up the peaceful vibes, with the chance for a swim if you fancied a dip. It was also the perfect chance to chat with fellow riders and take in just how remote and raw the Akamas coastline feels.

Into the Hills and Forest Trails From the coast, the route climbed into more rugged terrain. We powered through winding trails, pine forests, and dusty mountain paths — the kind of landscapes you’d never see without an off-road vehicle. Expect to get very dusty (and very smiley). It’s bumpy, exciting, and feels like a proper off-grid escape.

Final Stop: Adonis Baths The finale of the tour was the Adonis Baths, a mythical natural waterfall and swimming spot tucked into the hills above Paphos. After hours on the road, diving into the cool, freshwater pool beneath the falls was total bliss. There’s even a rope swing and statues of Aphrodite and Adonis scattered around, adding a fun, quirky vibe to the place. It was a brilliant way to wash off the dust and end the ride on a refreshing high.

Beyond the adventures, the essence of Cyprus was captured in its simple pleasures. Evenings were spent savouring local cuisine at seaside tavernas, with dishes like grilled halloumi and fresh seafood delighting the palate. The friendly locals, rich history, and stunning vistas combined to create an unforgettable experience

With its blend of serene landscapes and proximity to thrilling activities, Cyprus offers something for every traveller. Whether you‘re lounging by the pool, dancing on a boat, or racing through rugged terrains, this Cypriot gem promises memories that will last a lifetime.
