Lake Maggiore With a privileged position close to the lake, and professional, friendly service, there’s a lot to like at the Simplon. Surrounded by centuries-old Mediterranean gardens, the Hotel Simplon on Lake Maggiore is an oasis of tranquillity and luxury. The building flaunts a pretty pink façade which is not only attractive but mirrors the colour of the famous local marble.

The interiors are also striking, with ornate décor, stained glass windows and detailed furnishings. In addition to this, the Simplon is connected to its sister hotel, the Hotel Dino, by a passage lined with oil paintings, to admire as you journey between the two. Head over and make the most of its fabulous indoor swimming pool, as well as a range of other amenities. Life in Baveno is rather laidback and relaxed, a little more so than the neighbouring town of Stresa, which is just 2km down the western coast.
