I recently had the privilege of exploring it first-hand, beginning in Banff, deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, and ending my journey in the vibrant coastal city of Vancouver. What unfolded was a journey filled with natural wonder, luxury, and unforgettable moments.

Beautiful Banff – Where the Adventure Begins

My trip started in the charming mountain town of Banff, where I stayed at the Otter Hotel — a relatively new addition to the Banff scene. It’s stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located for exploring everything the area has to offer.

A highlight of my stay was the Banff Gondola, which took me to the top of Sulphur Mountain for panoramic views across six stunning mountain ranges. The vistas were simply breathtaking, a moment where you can’t help but pause and appreciate just how majestic Canada truly is.

Lakes That Take Your Breath Away

No visit to this part of the world would be complete without witnessing the legendary Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Both are impossibly beautiful, framed by soaring peaks and shimmering in shades of turquoise that almost don’t look real.

Lake Louise feels serene and elegant, the kind of place you could spend hours just gazing across the water. Moraine Lake, on the other hand, has a more dramatic setting — surrounded by rugged mountains and alpine forest, it’s pure postcard perfection.

The Rocky Mountaineer Experience – GoldLeaf Luxury

From Banff, I boarded the Rocky Mountaineer for a journey that’s every bit as spectacular as its reputation suggests. I travelled in Gold Leaf Service, and it was nothing short of extraordinary, particularly leaving Banff after a heavy snowfall the night before.

The double-deck glass-domed carriage offers unobstructed views of the Rockies as you glide past snow-capped peaks, deep canyons, and winding rivers. Gourmet meals are freshly prepared onboard, paired with Canadian wines and accompanied by friendly, knowledgeable hosts who share fascinating stories along the way.

As we made our way towards Vancouver, the scenery changed from mountain majesty to lush valleys and coastal beauty, each mile offering something new to admire.

Vancouver – Coastal Cool and Urban Charm

Arriving in Vancouver, I swapped mountain views for ocean breezes. This dynamic city is a joy to explore, effortlessly blending nature with cosmopolitan flair.

I joined an e-bike tour, which was a brilliant way to see the city pedalling along the Seawall, through Stanley Park, and past stunning waterfront views. I also visited the iconic Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, where walking high above the forest canopy is both thrilling and tranquil in equal measure.

Another must-do is the FlyOver Canada experience — a virtual flight across the country that combines spectacular visuals with motion, wind, and mist. It’s a fun, immersive way to take in Canada’s vast beauty from a whole new perspective.

From Banff’s alpine charm to the scenic splendour of the Rocky Mountaineer and the laid-back sophistication of Vancouver, this trip showcased Canada at its absolute best.
