Falling in love with the Elysium Hotel Paphos Cyprus
When I heard about an educational visit to the 5-star Elysium hotel in Paphos, Cyprus, I immediately put myself forward for this trip.
I visited and stayed at the Elysium about 15 years ago, and it always made a lasting impression on me. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous, this 5* hotel oozes glamour and sophistication on another level.
The moment you arrive at the hotel, it has a welcoming and personalised statement, and you know exactly what you‘re going to get from this hotel.
The architecture and décor were stunning, the manicured gardens, the marbled floor paving, the glass entrance surrounded by Cypriot plant holders of different sizes displaying large green foliage nd colourful flowers.
Walking through the hotel‘s glass entrance doors to the reception, you immediately notice the most elegant masterpieces of artwork displayed to enhance this hotel‘s decor.
I was warmly greeted by the friendliest staff, soft music playing in the background, large sofa chairs and glass coffee tables.
My room was a deluxe sea view room, very spacious, a large king bed with bedding and cushions of plum, cream and white colouring.
There was a welcome card in my room with a bottle of water, chilled wine on ice and two scrumptious little pastries.
All the rooms have UK plug sockets in the room, so you don’t need to travel with European phone sockets. Also, the TV had 4 UK TV channels, BBC1, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, so if you wanted to have some time in your room, you could watch all the shows or programmes you’d normally watch at home.
For me, another bonus was, they have a phone in the bathroom as well as the bedroom, so in case of any emergencies, you're not far from a phone.
Around6 pmm every eveni a member of the housekeeping team, will ask you if you’d like their night ‘turn down service’ where staff prepare your room for the evening, this can include turning back the covers of your bed linens, drawing the curtains or blinds, or leaving small items like chocolate or water, this service just aids a comfortable and restful evening atmosphere.
The hotel's interior grounds were beautiful, with marbled floors, wall paintings, soft and inviting large sofa settees, and a wide-open library area with a good selection of books.
There was a piano lounge area where you could have afternoon tea and indulge in a lovely selection of cakes.
Through the centre of the hotel’s main reception area, is a stunning grand double marble staircase that takes you downstairs to the ground floor to the hotel's restaurants, souvenir shop, gift shop and a hahairdresser'sThe centrepiece on the ground floor is a water fountain with a large clear water globe just rotating round and round with what looks like stars of water, absolutely stunning…
There are 5 fine dining gourmet restaurants at the Elysium, my favourites were the Italian, Pan Asian and the Cypriot Mediterranean. Guests staying at this hotel can choose different board bases, bed and breakfast, half board or full board.
Each restaurant has such beautiful décor, crisp white table linen, polished cutlery, and centre pieces with decorative floral arrangements in the centre of the table.
My favourite meal time on holiday is breakfast, and this hotel had the widest selection of breakfast items I have ever seen in any hotel before, from Patisseries to Platters, breads, fruits, cereals, hot breakfast items, cold meat, salmon and cheese platters. This heavenly breakfast experience is a 5* morning experience.
The outdoor pool is absolutely stunning, with its hydro massage tub stealing the spotlight as the true centrepiece. Whether you're unwinding under the sun or enjoying the gentle bubbles on your back, it feels like a slice of pure heaven. The indoor pool is just as beautiful in its own way, surrounded by elegant details and a calm, like atmosphere with day beds in a lounge area, making it perfect for those who want to swim or relax in a little more privacy. There was an impressive array of treatments to choose from. It was the ideal way to complete my stay, leaving me feeling pampered and refreshed.
The hotel offers a range of sporting and leisure facilities from a fully equipped gym to well-maintained tennis courts, with plenty more activities to choose from. Guests can stay as active or as relaxed as they wish.
While the Elysium does offer a well-equipped children's club, I would personally recommend this 5-star hotel for adults seeking a more refined atmosphere. The overall ambience is one of glamour, sophistication, and serene relaxation, making it ideal for guests who appreciate a calm, elegant setting with just the right touch of upbeat evening entertainment. It's a place where adults can truly unwind and enjoy an elevated luxury experience.
Anyone who knows me will understand why the Elysium Hotel-Paphos felt so perfect for me. With this being my second visit, it still matched everything I love in a holiday experience.
