Blue Waters, Antigua - Effortless Caribbean Elegance
I arrived at bright blue skies and the kind of sunshine that instantly makes you exhale. After a short transfer, I pulled up at Blue Waters Antigua, where every smiling face reminded me why this resort has such a loyal following. It’s the kind of place where time seems to slow down, effortlessly elegant yet wonderfully unpretentious.
Tucked away on the island’s northern tip, Blue Waters blends old-school Caribbean charm with refined luxury. My suite overlooked a small, secluded cove, turquoise water framed by palm trees and each morning I’d wander out to my terrace with a cuppa and simply watch the sea.
On our first day, we headed out on one of Blue Waters’ sleek speedboats with their lovely crew. We cruised along the west coast, swimming with turtles and stingrays, before a leisurely tapas-style lunch at Sheer Rocks. I can only imagine how magical sunset drinks must be there.
Back at the hotel, a few of us decided to try out the floating trampoline just offshore (no, that photo will not be shared, but let’s just say, there was plenty of laughter!).
As if the day couldn’t get any better, we ventured out that evening to Papa Zouk, a legendary seafood restaurant and rum bar boasting over 250 bottles. No, I didn’t try them all, but after a couple of rums, some delicious lobster, and a fascinating chat with the owner, Bert, I slept very soundly indeed.
The next morning, after yet another fabulous breakfast, we headed to Galleon Beach to make our own rum, a fun and surprisingly educational experience (though I doubt my blend will be hitting the shelves anytime soon!).
Back at the resort, there’s plenty of choice for dining. With three restaurants, every meal feels like a treat, but don’t miss dinner at The Cove, one of the island’s most romantic spots, with views that steal the show.
What really makes Blue Waters special, though, is the people. The warmth of the staff is genuine; nothing feels scripted or rehearsed. Nicole, the villa manager, seems to be everywhere at once and just can’t do enough for you. They remember your name, your favourite drink, even how you take your coffee. It’s hospitality that feels truly personal, a rare thing these days.
Although there’s a fantastic kids’ club (complete with pet tortoises!), I’d say this resort is best suited to couples and families with older children looking for space and tranquillity. For couples, the Cove Suites are the ultimate choice, spacious, private, and close to their own pool and concierge.
You can stay in a Cove Suite on an All-Inclusive basis for 7 nights in April, including return direct flights from London, from £8,500 per couple. But honestly, with Antigua’s year-round sunshine, any time is the perfect time to go.
Get in touch for more information, videos, and photos. I promise, Blue Waters will capture your heart just as it did mine.
